We’re excited to welcome Garland Wherry, DNP, to Bozeman Health Cardiology Clinic.

Garland brings 10 years of nursing experience to her new role, including 5 years in cardiology. Her experience gives her a unique perspective on helping patients understand their heart health, manage cardiovascular conditions and take steps toward prevention.

Garland has a special interest in preventive cardiology. Her approach is centered around listening to patients, providing evidence-based guidance and helping each person feel confident in their care.

Our littlest patients were able to celebrate their first Halloween in festive style, thanks to a very special nurse and her mom who handmade these tiny costumes.

We hope these adorable costumes create happy memories for our NICU families!

“Lives have been saved through this program already.”

Dr. James Kalyvas, board-certified neurosurgeon, joined Bozeman Health to help build our first neurosurgery and advanced spine program which launched this summer.

With more than a decade of experience, he completed his neurosurgical training and complex spine fellowship at Barrow Neurological Institute, one of the nation's leading centers for neurosurgical care. Dr. Klayvas was previously medical director of neurosurgical spine at Ochsner Health.

Bozeman Health is pleased to welcome James Kalyvas, MD, to the Neurosurgery and Spine Clinic.

Dr. Kalyvas is a board-certified, fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with expertise in complex spine conditions. He joins Bozeman Health’s growing Neurosurgery team after serving as medical director for 11 years at Ochsner Health.

With advanced training from the Barrow Neurological Institute and a commitment to personalized, patient-centered care, Dr. Kalyvas is helping expand access to expert spine care close to home for patients across Southwest Montana.

When Kaitlin, a nurse and educator helped bring Neurosurgery to Bozeman Health this summer, she never imagined that one of the first patients to need it would be her own nephew.

When a playground swing struck 3-year-old Milo on the head, the race to deliver life-saving neurosurgical care began. Thanks to an emergency craniotomy to relieve the pressure on his brain, he is back to his active, playful self

When a swing struck 3-year-old Milo on the side of the head at the playground, the clock began ticking. Bozeman Health’s new neurosurgery program was ready.

The injury caused a large brain bleed, and Milo’s family was suddenly facing the possibility of losing him. With valuable time passing quickly, Bozeman Health care team members determined that emergency neurosurgery was Milo’s next step.

Bozeman Health is proud to welcome Emily Edwards, MD, FACOG, a board-certified OB-GYN with advanced fellowship training in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Dr. Edwards provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care while specializing in advanced laparoscopic and robotic procedures for conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids and chronic pelvic pain. She also cares for women through pregnancy, postpartum and every stage of life. Her goal is to help every patient feel heard, informed and confident in their care.

Dr. Spoon is board-certified in sleep medicine and psychiatry and brings more than a decade of specialized experience caring for patients with sleep concerns. She completed her sleep medicine fellowship at Mayo Clinic and has practiced sleep medicine in Montana since 2016.

"I feel like hard keeps choosing me, I want to choose my hard"

For Ashley, running The Rut became a reflection of her cancer journey. With every high and every low, she pushed forward to cross both finish lines.

Born with a heart defect, Ashley Pecora's journey took an unexpected turn after open-heart surgery in late 2024. Just months later, she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer.
With the support of her family, friends and care teams at Bozeman Health Cancer Center and Cardiac Rehabilitation, Ashley embarked on another challenging chapter with a new goal in mind: returning to trail running and crossing the finish line at The Rut.
