Most people wait up to 10 years to schedule a hearing test once they notice their hearing has changed. In many cases, hearing is not evaluated until conversations become difficult, the television volume keeps creeping higher, or loved ones begin pointing out communication struggles. But hearing experts agree that the best time to test hearing is at the very first sign of change, even if that change seems minor.

Subtle hearing changes can appear gradually. Voices may sound muffled in noisy restaurants, phone conversations may become harder to follow, or there may be a need to ask others to repeat themselves more often. Because these changes often happen slowly, many people assume they are simply part of aging or something to deal with later. However, early detection is important because untreated hearing loss can affect far more than communication.

August is Hearing Health Awareness Month! 💙

Your hearing plays a vital role in staying connected to the people and moments that matter most. Whether you're chatting with loved ones, enjoying your favorite music, or simply hearing the sounds of everyday life, protecting your hearing is an investment in your overall health and well-being.

This month, take a moment to prioritize your hearing by:
🔹 Scheduling a hearing evaluation
🔹 Wearing hearing protection around loud noises
🔹 Turning down the volume on personal devices
🔹 Encouraging family and friends to have their hearing checked

Remember, hearing loss often develops gradually, making it easy to miss the early signs. Early detection and treatment can make a significant difference in your quality of life.

📍 If you've noticed changes in your hearing—or it's simply been a while since your last hearing test—we're here to help.

It’s easy to get the wrong idea about an “invisible condition” like hearing loss. Misconceptions are commonplace, from antiquated stereotypes to wrong assumptions.

The following common myths are a great starting point for correcting misinformation and removing the stigma associated with hearing loss.

- You Should Speak Louder to Someone With Hearing Loss.
- In-the-Ear Hearing Aids Are Better Than Behind-the-Ear Hearing Aids.
- You’ll Notice When You Develop Hearing Loss.
- Everyone With Hearing Loss Can Read Lips

Did You Know? Allergy Season Can Affect Your Hearing!

Sneezing, itchy eyes, and congestion aren't the only symptoms allergies can bring. Seasonal allergies can also impact your hearing.

When allergies cause inflammation, the Eustachian tubes (the small passages that connect your middle ear to the back of your throat) can become swollen or blocked. This can lead to:
• A feeling of fullness or pressure in the ears
• Muffled hearing
• Temporary hearing changes
• Increased tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
• Dizziness or balance issues

The good news? These symptoms are often temporary, but if they persist or you're noticing ongoing hearing difficulties, it's important to have your hearing checked!
