Welcome, Nursing Scholars! 🩺 Today, students from the State College of Florida in the Universal Health Services, Inc. - UHS Nursing Scholars Program begin their hands-on training at Manatee Memorial. Paired with experienced nurse preceptors, they'll gain real-world experience while preparing for their future careers in healthcare. We're excited to be part of their journey!

Manatee Memorial is proud to celebrate an exciting milestone in heart care right here in our community. Cardiologist Dr. Jared Collins recently performed the first procedure using the FDA-approved VARIPULSE™ pulsed-field ablation (PFA) catheter at our hospital.

So, what does that mean for our community? For patients living with certain types of atrial fibrillation (AFib), it means access to a newer, innovative treatment option that uses carefully delivered electrical pulses to treat the areas of the heart responsible for an irregular heartbeat. Unlike traditional ablation techniques that use heat or cold to destroy targeted heart tissue, pulsed-field ablation uses electrical energy designed to precisely target heart cells while helping limit effects on surrounding tissue. Most importantly, our patients now have access to this advanced heart rhythm technology right here in their own community.

This milestone reflects our commitment to bringing the latest advances in cardiovascular care closer to home and to providing our patients with more options for getting back to a healthier, more active life. We’re incredibly proud of Dr. Collins and our entire cardiac cath lab team for continuing to advance heart care in our community. ❤️

We’re proud to welcome the first-ever cohort of UHS Nursing Scholars! 🎉🩺 The nursing team at Manatee Memorial recently celebrated the arrival of eight nursing students as part of the inaugural Universal Health Services, Inc. - UHS Nursing Scholars Program during a special orientation and welcome ceremony at State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota.

Through this exciting partnership with SCF and alongside Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, these future nurses will receive valuable mentorship, professional development and hands-on clinical experiences designed to help prepare them for successful healthcare careers.
