It takes a team when every second counts. 🚨 Recently, our Outpatient Pediatric Therapy Department took part in a pediatric cardiac arrest drill, bringing together staff from across the hospital to practice responding to a critical emergency. These drills help strengthen communication, coordination, and collaboration among teams as they work to stabilize a pediatric patient and prepare for safe transport to a pediatric facility. 💚

Who remembers the Hospital Olympics last month? 🏩 During this event, teams across the hospital put their skills to the test through a series of healthcare-themed challenges like putting a bandage on a patient and counting pills. This week, we held our official Medal Ceremonies!

🥈2nd Place - Cath Lab “Swiss Delights Time” finished in 1 minute and 37 seconds.

Manatee Memorial is proud to honor two individuals who were recognized at the Manatee Chamber of Commerce’s 12th Annual Champions of Healthcare Awards, an event that honors people and organizations making a significant impact in healthcare through leadership, innovation, and compassionate service.

Vernon DeSear, Chief Executive Officer of Manatee Memorial Foundation, was named the Lifetime Achievement award winner. Over more than twenty-five years at Manatee Memorial Hospital, he served in senior leadership roles where he strengthened community awareness, expanded access to essential medical services, and built meaningful connections among physicians, patients, and civic partners. Today, Vernon serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Manatee Memorial Foundation, where he continues his legacy of service through philanthropy and community investment. Under his guidance, the Foundation has provided more than $1 million in scholarships to aspiring healthcare professionals and has contributed substantial funding to nonprofits supporting patients and families.

In the Individual of Merit category, Mark Goodson, Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors for Manatee Memorial was recognized for his more than 25 years of service on the Board. Mark is helping guide the hospital's strategic direction, growth, and continued investment in advanced, patient-centered care. In addition, Mark dedicated 16 years to the Manatee Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, including five years as Chairman. In this role, he played a critical part in advancing philanthropic initiatives that directly support patient care, clinical innovation, and community health programs.

“We are so proud to honor Vernon and Mark,” said Colin Weaver, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Manatee Memorial Hospital. “They both exemplify the highest level of excellence in healthcare. Their work not only transforms lives but also strengthens the fabric of our community.”

Congratulations to all of this year’s award winners, finalist, and nominees. We are honored to work alongside you.

At Manatee Memorial, our volunteer Pet Therapy program brings comfort, companionship and a little extra joy to patients, visitors, and team members alike. Pictured here are just a few of the amazing therapy dogs who regularly visit our hospital, helping brighten days one wagging tail at a time. 🐶🐾

Research has shown that animal-assisted therapy can help reduce anxiety, stress and feelings of depression while promoting a greater sense of well-being for hospitalized patients. Whether they're offering a gentle nuzzle, a comforting presence or simply a reason to smile, these four-legged volunteers make a meaningful difference in the healing journey. Help us thank our Pet Therapy teams for sharing their time, compassion and unconditional love with our hospital family.

We’re always looking to grow our Pet Therapy program. If you are interested, please fill out an application here: https://bit.ly/4uvF6tO.
