The “Barbie drug” (Melanotan) is an unapproved injectable tanning drug sold online—and the risks go way beyond a few weird side effects.

🚩 New or darkening moles
🚩 Nausea, flushing & headaches
🚩 Unpredictable dosing and ingredients
🚩 No FDA approval for tanning
🚩 And yes… you STILL need sunscreen.

Most red light masks aren’t a scam… but they’re not magic either.

The biggest mistake? Buying based on marketing instead of the actual science.

✔️ Look for:
• Red light: 630–660 nm
• Near-infrared: 830–850 nm

These are the wavelengths with the strongest evidence for improving fine lines, reducing inflammation, and helping mild acne.

Just remember: consistency matters, and no LED mask is going to replace Botox or lasers.

Collagen isn’t a scam.

But the marketing? That’s a different story.

Most collagen supplements are advertised like they’ll erase wrinkles, tighten skin, and turn back the clock. The actual evidence is much more modest than the claims.

If you’re deciding where to spend your skincare budget, I’d put it toward:
✔️ Daily sunscreen
✔️ A retinoid (if appropriate for you)
✔️ Evidence-based treatments

Could collagen provide a small benefit? Maybe.

Is it the miracle it’s marketed to be? Not based on the evidence we have.
