Ivory Coast Mothers and Children

Ivory Coast Mothers and Children 501(c)3 organization that works in partnership with Patricia Nau Clinic, a community based clinic Two houses were built for the nurse and midwife.

The maternal and community health center is named "Patricia" after the founder's mother, Patricia McLoughlin Nau. The PN Clinic is built thanks to the many generous gifts from family members, young children's allowances, a girl scout troop, art shows, multiple festive events, and caring people. The Ivorian Ministry of Health has also donated a percentage of the building costs. This center will ope

n in 2011 and will serve expectant mothers before, during, and after childbirth. There is also immediate care for the treatment of malaria, infections, worms, and other diseases. Clean facilities, properly trained medical staff, and post-natal healthy lifestyle planning help prevent the spread of disease and helps to reduce the mounting infant mortality rate that exists in the Ivory Coast. In addition, the center will provide access to deserved medical supplies and will surely empower the people in the community by teaching basic life skills. To accomplish this goal, the Ivory Coast Mothers and Children organization has partnered with ADER - an African organization/contractor devoted to building projects like ours and has benefitted from numerous generous US professionals who have visited the clinic to support our efforts.

https://gofund.me/1d38d1487. Please visit the GoFundMe page for continued updates on young Brou. The latest news is that he will not have his surgery today because the surgeon decided that he was not strong enough to endure a long delicate surgery. Since there were no hospital rooms available, he had to return to the village and will be staying at our clinic where he will receive powerful nutrients. We will keep you posted. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts …and prayers.

We’re excited to launch the first-ever in-person Passport to the Future experience this May with the support of UniHealth Foundation and in partnership with California State University Northridge’s College of Health and Human Development and Ivory Coast Mothers and Children.

On May 30, three students will travel to Côte d’Ivoire to work alongside AWIU micro-grantee Ivory Coast Mothers and Children in a unique cross-cultural learning and service experience centered on global connection, collaboration and community impact.

This is what bridge-building looks like — creating opportunities for the next generation of global leaders to learn directly from women-led work happening around the world.

Stay tuned as we share more from this exciting journey!
