Stairways Behavioral Health (SBH), an affiliate of Journey Health System (JHS), held an annual board and donor appreciation dinner with approximately 65 people on August 13 at the Warner Theatre in . Agency leaders thanked board members for volunteering and the donors in the community for providing philanthropic support toward the agency’s mission.
The program commenced with a prayer by Father Leo Gallina, followed by a welcome message from Guy Signor, JHS President & CEO and introductions by SBH Board Chair Brian Hennessy, Esq.
SBH Executive Director Melanie Hake, shared the agency’s list of accomplishments and recognized the current SBH board members, including Rosmari Graham and Celene McIntyre for their five years of service as well as Tom Tredway for 10 years of service. All of the Board members provide a combined total of 133 years of service.
In addition, the 2026 S.T.E.P. Award was presented to Tom Tredway, a Board member at Stairways Behavioral Health. S.T.E.P. stands for “Service Through Empowering People” and is awarded each year to an individual who exemplifies leadership and service at Stairways Behavioral Health.
“For the past decade, Tom has generously shared his time, leadership, and expertise in support of Stairways Behavioral Health and the individuals we serve,” said Hake. “Tonight we are honored to recognize his extraordinary commitment and the lasting impact he has made on our organization and our community.”
The evening also included a special guest speaker, Larry Wallerstein, son of one of Stairways’ founders, Laura Wallerstein. Plus, a client shared her recovery testimonial as a heartfelt example of the important work done by the staff and programs at SBH.
Tana Smith, JHS Director of Institutional Advancement, thanked all of the agency’s staff, supporters and honorees. Her closing remarks noted that their generosity and support have resulted in an invaluable impact on the lives of those served by SBH.
