Larry's Journey for a Liver

Good evening, everyone.

Back on August 8, 2024, after I received my liver transplant, the doctors advised Stacey and I that the first two years would be very crucial because that is when most rejection can occur.

Now that I have celebrated my second anniversary on August 8, 2026, I feel that I must take the time to sincerely thank each and every one of you for the prayers, thoughts, calls, concerns, and love you showed me throughout my struggle with liver disease.

Even though there may have been a few speed bumps along the way, I always knew that with the Lord’s healing hands, His love and guidance, and the love and support of all of you, everything was going to be fine.

I look forward to continuing my recovery from my transplant and recent hip replacement, now that I have reached this important benchmark. More than anything, I look forward to continuing to grow closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ—serving Him and learning more from His Word.

I am also looking forward to spending more time with my boss lady, best friend, and WIFE, Stacey Elizabeth Hutto Long, as well as my children, Larry, Cayce, Caroline, and W***y & Mimi.

Again, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for standing beside me and lifting me up in prayer.

May the Lord be a light along your path, continue to bless you, and always be your rock.

May ALL glory be to the Lord !!!!

It’s been a while since we have posted so here we go…

Well it has been 2 years since Larry received his new liver! I keep thinking it was August 9th but it was August 8th 🤦‍♀️ so I’m a day late…as usual 🤪. We are so very THANKFUL and BLESSED for the gift that someone selflessly gave him. To the family that lost their love one , we say THANK YOU and we pray for them. Above all else we thank God for allowing him this blessing 🙏

He is out and about all the time, we can’t keep him home! We had another hiccup in June with the bile duct blockage so another stent was placed but otherwise all is well. Oh yeah and he got a “new” hip in June so I really can’t catch up with him now!

We have 8 beautiful/handsome grands we are enjoying and adding another little girl in February 💝 thank you God for allowing Larry to be here to see these babies growing up, we are so grateful 🙏❤️

Today is World Transplant Day

We are home! His liver blood tests were coming down, the itching was getting better and not as jaundice. God is good all the time and thankfully is was just the backup in the stent. He may have to have another one put in at some point they said , they will go in and look in a couple of months. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, they are felt. We love you all and grateful to have wonderful friends and family 🙏❤️

It’s been a while since we have posted but things were going very well , Larry has been out and about. Sunday came and Larry was itching like a wild man and when we looked his eyes were yellow. This is how he reacted when the bile duct was blocked but having the stent in I was not sure what was going on. After talking to transplant service we came on down to MUSC where we were admitted. His liver functions were elevated but scans did not show any issues with the stent. Monday his labs were looking better but they wanted to go in and look at the stent to see if there were any issues and that was done today. There was some sludge in the stent so they removed it and said the bile duct looked good now. If his labs are stable in the morning we will probably be discharged. It’s crazy how things can change in such a short time but this is part of the transplant journey and we will continue to ask God to carry us on. He will be glad to get back home to his bed though and his puppy is ready for him to come home 🤣. Thank you all again for remembering us in your prayer, much love to you all 🙏❤️
