Let me share My Storm with you.

I always think of her. I know in spirit she is still my shadow. But the other day leaving for work I saw a lady in my neighborhood walking a dog that resembled Storm. Never seen her or the dog before. I was at the stop 🛑 sign to turn right. As I waited for the car to go by I turned right. When we made it to the next stop sign I noticed the numbers on the license plate of the car. 444!

Storm is soul who arrived exactly when she was meant to.

The little who girl couldn’t keep her after she found her as a stray. It could have seemed like a small decision at the time, but it changed nearly 18 years of your life. Storm wasn’t just there for the easy days. She walked beside you through births, deployments, moves, heartaches, celebrations, and finally into the forever home where she was meant to rest.

Storm was loyal beyond words. She would have fought to stay with me if she could have. But love sometimes means letting go before suffering begins. That was the hardest goodbye I have ever had to make, yet it was also one of the most peaceful.

She almost made it to 18 years old.

On her final day, she felt the cool fall wind on her face. She ate cake and chicken. She was surrounded by the people who loved her most.

And then she left this world knowing she was cherished.

I miss her every day, but when I think about her last day, my heart finds peace. Not because I was ready to say goodbye, but because she was loved from the moment she came into my life until the moment she left it.

Storm was never just a dog.

She was family.
She was a chapter of my life.
She was my soul dog.

Forever loved.
Forever missed.
Forever part of me.

Your fur babies are with you in spirit. I imagine Storm running through the hills of heaven. Eating donut 🍩 and bagels 🥯! 🤍✨

Some of you are raising children while caring for aging parents.

Some of you are watching a parent care for the love of their life.

Some of you are the caregiver.

And sometimes, the person everyone checks on is the one receiving care, while the caregiver quietly fades into the background.
