Journey Forward Wellness Our experience enables us to offer effective culturally competent counseling, coaching, and consulting. Hi, I’m Sheli. Professionals, caregivers, helpers.

We treat a number of mental health issues, and specialize in Stress, Anxiety, and Post-traumatic Growth for the BIPOC community. As a bilingual therapist and BIPOC advocate, I provide care that honors culture, language, and lived experience. My practice is grounded in cultural humility and body-based healing. I created this practice for people like you—people who are holding a lot, quietly. People

who show up for others, even when they’re struggling themselves. My team is here to help you slow down, breathe, and come back into your body. We use somatic practices, EMDR, and mind-body techniques to help you heal from the root—not just cope. Healing is possible. And you don’t have to do it alone.

I hope you FEEL these words.
The origin of the word “Mother” is something that gives rise to something else.

Often a Feminine energy that provides nurturing, care, and protection.

Many of us didn’t have this consistently growing up. There is a tenderness around this day.

As adults we get to choose. Choose to be this woman for others, for ourselves, and to honor ALL the women in our lives that provide so many small and large gifts of nurturing for us.

May you feel into the abundance of burring, loving, and care. May you give as you receive.

Eight 8️⃣ things I whisper to the UNIVERSE as a Somatic Therapist.

We experience life thru our bodies. Ie sensations we correlate with satisfaction, frustration and the like.

So when I was recently manifesting on my therapy couch, considering my own bad-assery and that of my clients...

These phrases became my mantras.
We know words have power, but when we FEEL into them they transform into an embodied power.

A felt sense of a new reality, a new experience.

If one of these hit different, that’s your nervous system telling you something.

Not every wellness practice is about “calming down”. Side note… please don’t ever say those words to a woman. Back to this: Sometimes MY body needs to be activated — lifted, energized, shaken loose! 😛 Red light therapy with full-body vibration is one of the tools I use to start my day or get out of a funk.

Truthfully…THIS is what somatic care actually looks like outside the therapy room. Shhh….Healing happens everywhere.

20% happens in the therapy room, 80% outside of it.

Peripheral Shift. This is a 90-second somatic reset you can do while looking at your screen, no one will even notice.

When I worked in the corporate world I had a day where I experienced severe Tunnel Vision during a meeting.

I had just presented a project and it was being picked apart. My heart rate was thru the roof. My breathing 😮‍💨 shallow. And of course my vision was honed in on the perceived threat in front of me.

Luckily, I already had this tool in my back pocket. So… once I realized my body was trying to protect me from a danger that didn’t exist… I reached for this practice. To say it saved me is an understatement.

The longer we’re in the fight or flight state the longer it may take to come back to our baseline.

The goal isn’t to calm your thoughts.
It’s to shift your nervous system out of tunnel vision. Out of your head, and into your body. So you can be present + intentional.

Try it before your next meeting.
