With deep gratitude, thoughtful planning, and care for the families we serve, Sweet Child O’ Mine is beginning a planned transition.

After many years of caring for families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, Sweet Child O’ Mine is preparing for a new chapter. This decision has been made with deep care, thoughtful planning, and a commitment to completing this season with integrity.

Sweet Child O’ Mine will continue caring for clients with estimated due dates through January 31, 2027, and we remain committed to completing that care with transparency, consistency, and respect.

At this time, we are not accepting new clients with estimated due dates after January 31, 2027.

For current clients, full care remains in place. We will continue prenatal care, birth center birth for eligible clients, postpartum care, records access, billing support, account reconciliation, and communication as we move through this transition.

As part of this process, we are open to conversations with any qualified birth center operator who may be interested in leasing the Brandon facility and continuing birth center services under their own corporation after Sweet Child O’ Mine completes this chapter. Planning months in advance may create a smooth transition and a meaningful opportunity for the right operator to step into an established, medically equipped, community-known birth center space. If you know someone who may be interested in having this conversation, or if you are interested in this opportunity, please email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).

We are deeply grateful for every family who has trusted Sweet Child O’ Mine since we began in 2009. It has been an honor to serve this community and to walk with so many families through such important moments in their lives.

We are also deeply grateful to the staff, midwives, birth assistants, students, doulas, colleagues, and support people who have helped make Sweet Child O’ Mine what it has been. This work has taken many hands and many hearts, and we are thankful for each one.

Our priority is to honor this chapter by completing it with the same care, intention, and respect that have guided the work from the beginning.

Florida summers can be intense during pregnancy ☀️
As midwives, one of the most common things we see this time of year is dehydration contributing to:
• fatigue
• headaches
• swelling
• Braxton Hicks contractions
• dizziness

Your pregnant body is already working hard — adding Florida heat means hydration and rest matter even more.

A few gentle reminders this summer:
🌴 Rest before you feel exhausted
💧 Sip water consistently throughout the day
🥥 Add electrolytes after time outdoors
👒 Stay shaded during peak afternoon heat
🤍 Listen closely to your body’s signals

The end of pregnancy has its own special kind of patience. 😂

To the mamas waiting, nesting, bouncing, walking, resting, and checking every little cramp… 🫶

We see you. 💕

Motherhood is one of the greatest honors in life.

It is also one of the hardest jobs.

It asks for your body, your time, your patience, your sleep, your strength, your surrender, and your heart in ways nothing else quite can.

Every time a mother loves, nurtures, teaches, protects, guides, comforts, and shows up again, she is shaping more than one child. She is shaping the future. She is pouring into the next generation.

And that love does not stay small. It ripples outward into families, communities, and the world.

To the mothers holding babies in their arms, the mothers carrying babies in their bellies, and the mothers waiting, hoping, healing, and becoming…

We honor you today.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Sweet Child O’ Mine Birth Center. 🌷

🍍 Sunshine, sweetness, and some labor magic.

Pineapple has been a hot topic in pregnancy circles for years, but now there’s actually some research adding to the conversation 👀

A new study suggests that eating pineapple in the third trimester may be linked to:
✨ Better cervical ripening
✨ Shorter labor
✨ Higher chances of spontaneous vaginal birth
