The air feels like it’s wrapped in a heavy blanket for the next few days. The temperatures are sure to break and be extremely high. It’s going be a scorcher. Older adults are highly vulnerable to heat related illnesses and must take proactive steps to stay cool , hydrated and monitored during heatwaves. Keep elderly in air conditioned spaces if no air condition, please call your local senior centers in town for cooling centers.  if you must go out, keep it limited with light cool clothing . It’s very important to keep elderly hydrated with water and nutrition. I understand a lot of elderly do not like to drink water. There are a lot of water soluble foods watermelon, cucumbers, popsicles Jell-O that can keep you hydrated. Also check on vulnerable people elderly neighbors, even children with medical conditions to ensure they’re safe. Stay cool stay hydrated and stay safe everyone.
