Hello to the friends of Iris X Readings! This week, I am working with The Avian Tarot by Britany Lyn Batchelder. It is a great deck of 78 different birds for the cards. It often challenges me to learn something about nature that I had not known before. I shuffled the cards and asked for a reading for someone who will see this post. Iris X Reading of the Week/Week beginning on 6/29/26

This week, I decided to work with a deck that challenges me a bit! The Minchiate al Cigno is a deck from 1775, created in Bologna. Instead of the traditional 78 cards, this deck has 97 with additions of the Virtues, Elements, and Astrological signs. The order and the numbers are not what is familiar, and there are no words on the cards. It's hard to work with- and really, a very cool deck. So, I am working on learning to work with it! I shuffled the cards and asked for a reading for someone that will see this post. It may be a reading for many people, or just one. Sometimes I find out later that it was for me! Iris X Reading of the Week/Week beginning on 6/22/26:

Happy day after Solstice to the friends of Iris X Readings. Today, I am working with the Raven's Dream Tarot by MJ Cullinane. Ravens are often pictured in art with the Moon, but they are truly solar creatures. They wake up moments before the Sun every day, and start singing their song. While their song is a bit different than most songbirds, Ravens are considered a songbird! The sun comes up, and they sing. May the Sun bless you and yours. Iris X Reading of the Week/Week beginning on 5/25/26:

Every week, I shuffle the cards and ask for a reading for someone that will see this post. This particular reading is interesting.. it appears to be advice for a person who is spiritual or learning something new. There's one card telling the person what they should do to be successful, and the rest focus on these major forces converging at once in their life. A Village Witch is defined by the 'village' that they serve. Whether local or across the globe, when people count on you for spells, magic and divination- you are practicing what I would call Village Witchery.

My days begin by talking to my Tarot class about the card that we are focusing on. Then, I respond to messages. People ask me for advice for spells. They check in with me about happenings in their lives that they don't talk to many people about. I am often updated on the predictions of a previous reading. Or consulted for ideas on how to purify or protect. A lot of Witches focus their practice on their own goals and spiritual growth. I do this too. But I am usually taking care of someone else. When I became a Witch, the first thing I did was reach out a hand to offer help. And I have been doing it ever since. I have my own personal practice- and then, a lot of my time is focused on the needs that other people have.

Q: Can you give me some more information on the teacher of Village Witchery?

A: Absolutely. My name is Stacy and I have been practicing Witchcraft since the late 1990's. I came into Witchcraft by way of Tarot, which is what caught my attention first. When I first became a Witch, I focused on the Moon for many years. I didn't have a lot of time, but I made the commitment to the Moon that I would be out there once a month, rain or shine, to give offerings. And I followed through with what I said I would do. I committed myself to learning and spent every bit of my spare time reading cards and various writings on Witchcraft. I jumped into everything headfirst- having no idea what I was doing. And I learned along the way.

I am a Solitary Practitioner that cooperates with other likeminded Witches. In the past, I have been a part of traditions and covenants, but I have found that I do my best on my own. My practice is focused on the land that I live on and the familiars that I work with. I have a practice centered around ancestors and spirits of the home and land. I am a Village Witch that helps anyone that crosses my path with magic, readings, and spells. I guide many others on their paths. I see myself as a constant student as well as a teacher. The more that I learn, the more that I know how much more I have to learn. It is humbling and enchanting all at once.

I spend my days reading Tarot cards, teaching Witchcraft and creating potions, spells, lotions, salves and charms of all kinds. I live on a big hill in Vermont with my husband, son, dogs, foster raven, bearded dragon, cat, plants and fish. I am surrounded by rivers, mountains, and the most amazing friends and inspiring Witches. Let me know if I can answer any more questions!
