Your feelings crave expression, movement, and action! When we get taught that suppressing our feelings makes us safer/more lovable, we block so much of our life force energy, and that block in the flow is making us and our relationships sick.

Getting the body used to EXPRESSION is such a powerful tool.

Somatic expression is about letting the energy of the emotion MOVE the body. To learn how to safely turn the dial UP on the expression.

Even if you’re not able to do it publicly and in the moment, give yourself some space to discharge it privately.

Sometimes it’s a slow process as we build our capacity to feel and express without getting too freaked out. The fawning and people pleasing patterns formed for a protective reason, and sometimes we need to be gentle with our capacity as we begin to rewire and unmask.

The grief, the rage, the fear, the joy, the excitement, the anxiety, the hurt… they all have an energetic movement through the body.

What parts of your expression get blocked by people pleasing and fawning?

The key to becoming more of yourself and getting what you want - intimacy, purpose, community, meaningful relationships, creative expression, etc - is building the capacity to feel, express, and tend to the emotions and parts of yourself that you are spending so much energy trying to not feel/be perceived as.

Many people coast on autopilot through life.

I’m imagining if you’re watching this, that’s not you.

You want to feel like YOU, you want depth, you want meaningful relationships, you want joy.

It takes a good amount of resourcing and support to build the skills and care needed to expand our somatic capacity to be with what we are avoiding so we can free up more of our life force energy. Which is the KEY to being more of yourself and manifesting/creating your dreams.

It’s a beautiful life skill to have, and a cornerstone of both my 1:1 work in the Embodied Path and in my upcoming online group series SOMAspace, which begins July 26th.

Comment PATH to learn about 1:1 work or SOMA to learn more about my upcoming class in which we practice somatic self care for resourcing and healing.

Did you know Carl Jung brought astrology into his client sessions and began reading his clients charts because he found the archetypal language of astrology helpful in the soul level healing process ?

I think it’s funny that he dilly dallied around on a beach moving objects around to help him process his own feelings and experiences and that became a whole modality (sand tray therapy) but astrology, an ancient wisdom tradition, some how remains pushed out of therapy.

I find tools like astrology and tarot incredibly helpful and go hand in hand with depth psychology and transpersonal approaches.

Astrology is a soul level spiritual practice and I truly believe that all healing should include the soul and spirituality. Astrology has an amazing way of bringing clarity and de-shaming our process, activating our subconscious and creating greater insight.

I love weaving astrology into my client sessions but as an astrologer I am a firm believer in timing - when a client asks “can we look at my chart/the transits” I always trust their intuitive timing.

In the Embodied Path, my three month 1:1 coaching container, we go even deeper into these spiritual threads, weaving in astrology, tarot, depth psychology, and ritual into the somatic healing process.

The Embodied Path is the place where we get to go deeper into the witchier mystical side of therapy and healing.

July is the last month to begin your three month container with me in 2026, drop a ✨ in the comments and I’ll send you more deets.

Relationships are mirrors and can bring us face to face with our deepest wounds and triggers. It can be challenging to navigate what gets brought up through our relationships if we don’t have the tools to do so and lord knows most of us didn’t get taught any kind of useful relational skills through school or the media.

Somatic healing helps us to expand our capacity to be with what is, to meet challenging emotions in ways that interrupt the patterns of spinning out into conflict or disconnection.

I remember being 25 and had been in relationships since I was 15 and was like “…f*ck this, I’m done” because I had begun to equate romantic relationships with pain and discomfort.

It’s honestly taken years of personal healing and somatic growth to welcome in a partnership where I have the ability to face what comes up within me in a way that doesn’t send me running or fighting.

Relationships are not easy and yet so many of us yearn to feel safe, held, and connected in partnership. I think particularly people with sensitive nervous systems struggle with the challenges that arise, but I also believe it is the people with sensitive nervous systems who have the deep ability to transform their relationship with their emotions.

We just need the right tools, resources, and support.

And no it doesn’t come from analyzing the story or the pattern 🤓

It comes through the body 🐬

Expanding your capacity to be with discomfort is basically a superpower and I want everyone to be able to have more agency in this way. It’s good for ourselves, our relationships, and the world.

If you are interested in trauma informed somatic healing and coaching, I have spots open for 1:1 work 🌱

The words “somatics”, “embodiment” and “healing” can mean so many different things to different people.

Here’s one way I conceptualize Somatics (which is a term that means being connected with the body)

Somatics, and somatic healing, is a relational practice - the practice of cultivating a relationship with ourselves, life, each other, and the world that centers curiosity and kindness, that allows for complexity and mystery, a devotional path of discovery rather than solving, fixing, or perfecting.

After all, our bodies and our nervous systems are relational and responsive, embedded in the web of existence, with both human and non human kin.

The myth of the individual is so pervasive in western culture, and that individualism shows up in how many (white) westerners conceptualize the body and Somatics. The body has been seen as something to tame, control, or exploit.

I’m much more interested in a framework that allows for the erotic tension that arises when we live in the place where our desire to know meets the unknowable mystery.

When we practice Listening rather than Solving.

When we approach the unknown with curiosity instead of fear or control.

Ultimately I feel that’s why I love somatics and embodiment - a framework to help us access our Aliveness.

A score, among many definitions and uses of the word, is a framework that supports the spontaneous flow of expression within an improvised dance or performance.

Our history, trauma, culture, etc, shapes how we can improvise within our own lives (I might argue life is one big improvisational performance, but I also have a Gemini stellium)

There is an abundance of choice, but conditioning and trauma can vastly limit the availability of that choice.

For me, somatics and healing is a reclaiming of choice - the ability to expand what we feel is possible for ourselves, our relationships, and our world.

To recreate the framework by which we live, to reclaim our imagination and our creative power.

I have space open in the Embodied Path, my 1:1 somatic healing and embodied spirituality container. Some of what we do is exactly this - changing the framework of perception to open up more choice for improvising and playing within the life you desire. Check it out ✌🏼

At any given moment we are getting so much information about the state of reality (Am I safe? Am I okay? Am I good enough? Are people trustworthy? Do I belong?) but our brains can only PROCESS a TINY (super tiny) fraction of that information that’s available.

Your brain looks for the information that affirms the preexisting belief.

If your brain/body is tuned to “I’m not safe” your brain will keep affirming that 😔 same with “I’m not good enough / people don’t like me / I don’t belong”

Trauma & toxic stress (either ours or our ancestors) shape our brains in some really challenging ways.

They rob us of our ability to feel safe, to feel like we belong, to feel like we’re okay, that our relationships are okay, that our life is okay.

It’s the brain-body trying to protect itself by scanning through the data to find what’s bad and to protect against it.

AND it is possible to retrain the brain. To feel more free from these incredibly painful beliefs and experiences.

Imagine! If your brain was instead an antenna that picked up the frequency of ease. Of beauty, of pleasure, of ENOUGHNESS, of trust.

Imagine meeting life from THAT lens.

It’s not about spiritually bypassing whats hard, it’s about meeting life in a different way.

It takes practice! And it’s possible 🥹
