After the attacks that shook the nation to its core on Sept. 11, 2001, Catholic Health World surrounded its coverage around the efforts of care for a vulnerable nation.

The stories from just after and at the one-year anniversary looked at how Catholic hospitals near and far from the attack sites were dealing with the fallout and how decisions being made by policymakers in response to the attacks were affecting the nation’s healthcare system. At the 25-year anniversary of the attacks, the newspaper offers a look back at that coverage. https://hubs.li/Q04xhftS0

May we remember the light. We pray for the brave first responders, the survivors, and the lives lost on the 25th Anniversary of September 11.
As we remember the darkness of that day, let us also remember the light. The late poet Wendell Berry offered these fittingly poignant words in a 1995 Sabbath poem.

Now you know the worst
we humans have to know
about ourselves, and I am sorry,

for I know that you will be afraid
To know of our bodies give
without pity to be burned, I know

there is no answer
but loving one another,
even our enemies, and this is hard.

May we use this precious resource wisely across our ministries to maintain safe, compassionate, and excellent care. Let us pray.

For the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, we honor "Living Water". Calling attention to the essential role water plays in sustaining life and honoring it as a sacred gift. It invites us to recognize the urgency of safeguarding it, and the reality that access to clean, safe water remains unequal across communities.

We invite you to share our prayer, or share your own, as we enter the Season of Creation. Find additional resources related to the season at https://hubs.li/Q04w4dpv0

"We see you. We are here with you. We're going to do this together." - Dr. Marlene Martin

A recent study has found that physicians caring for immigrant patients are enduring moral injury. With increases in heavily enforced immigration laws, arrests, and deportation of immigrants, clinicians are experiencing distress when providing care that conflicts with deeply held ethical values.

A transformative journey with Catholic health ministry colleagues awaits you!

CHA invites you to join fellow leaders for a three-day civil rights pilgrimage to Montgomery and Selma, Alabama.
This pilgrimage offers an important opportunity to step away from our daily responsibilities, reflect on the issue of racism, and advance healing and justice by deepening our understanding of how the Church, its leadership, and the Catholic health ministry are called to be instruments of reconciliation.

An incredible opportunity to learn the nation's past, and how to advance meaningful efforts as we move forward. Register now at https://hubs.li/Q04tHWh60

On World Humanitarian Day, we pray for those who serve and deliver care in vulnerable areas. May their hands be blessed as they heal the sick and injured, and as they work to restore humanity and dignity to those in need. Let us pray.

A shared moment of hope, a community of caregivers, and one super little boy.

When Gloria Madera and her husband, Chance, welcomed their baby boy into the world, born with a cleft lip and cleft palate, they were unsure of the road ahead for their precious Archie. But a moment of reassurance from a caregiver, who showed her own upper lip scar, eased their minds about the future ahead of them. Through the surgeries Archie had to undergo, Gloria became an author, sharing a story of resilience centered on Archie as a superhero who gains new superpowers with each surgery.

A heartwarming story of finding hope and light in the care from those around you, visit https://hubs.li/Q04tqBP20 to learn more about the Madera's journey.
