🎆 Know When to Call 9-1-1 This Fourth of July 🎆

As our residents celebrate the 4th of July holiday, our police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and dispatchers are ready to respond when seconds matter. You can help keep emergency lines open by knowing when to call 9-1-1.

🚨 CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY if there is an immediate threat to life or property, such as:
🔥 A house, vehicle, or grass fire.
🚑 Someone who is seriously injured, unconscious, or having a medical emergency.
🚔 A crime in progress or a situation where someone's safety is at risk.
💥 Fireworks that have caused a fire or resulted in a serious injury.
⚠️ A dangerous situation that requires an immediate emergency response.

📞 DO NOT call 911 for things like:
🎇 "My neighbor's fireworks are louder than mine."
🐶 "My dog is giving me the silent treatment because of the fireworks."
🍔 "I burned the hot dogs."
🤔 "Can you tell me what time the fireworks start?"
😄 "My uncle insists he's a professional fireworks expert."

These may be frustrating (or funny), but they're not emergencies.

For non-emergency issues, including noise complaints or situations that do not involve an immediate threat to life or property, please contact our Non-Emergency Dispatch at 254-559-2211.

By using the right number, you help ensure that emergency responders are available for those who need them most.

During National Police Week, the City of Breckenridge proudly recognizes and honors the dedicated men and women of the Breckenridge Police Department and the Stephens County Sheriff’s Department for their unwavering commitment to protecting and serving our community each and every day.

Law enforcement officers willingly put themselves in harm’s way to keep our families, neighborhoods, and schools safe. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication often go unseen, but their impact is felt throughout our community every single day.

This week, we also pause to remember and honor the officers across our nation who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, as well as the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.

To all past and present law enforcement officers serving Breckenridge and Stephens County — thank you for your service, professionalism, and dedication to our community. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for all that you do. 💙

The Hwy 180 bridge over Hubbard Creek Lake will be closed for repairs Monday through Friday, April 27 - May 1.

The safety of the citizens of Stephens county and Breckenridge is our top priority. during this closure, mutual aid agreements and temporary response procedures are in place to ensure continued emergency services for the residents on the west side of the bridge.

Congratulations to Tiphane Newman, Telecommunicator of the Year!

Breckenridge Police Department Communication Center, Telecommunicator of the Year.
“Tiphane Newman has been with Breckenridge Communication Center since July of 2024. She is dependable and always willing to help out. For a while, she was the only Telecommunicator that lived near the PD. So, she has been called in several times to assist when a major event is going on. Tiphane always finds a way and gets here when needed. We all enjoy working with Tiphane and hope she stays with us for the long haul! “
