Community Storm Update: August 11, 2026
Following yesterday's severe weather, Brecksville, Broadview Heights, and North Royalton were among the hardest-hit areas in the region. City crews and utility partners are actively working on recovery and restoration efforts. Please review the critical updates and available municipal resources below.
Power Outage Status
FirstEnergy reports that 627 Brecksville residents remain without power. The majority of these outages (450 residents) are concentrated in the Old Town / Chaffee Court area. Utility crews are currently on-site working to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.
Roadways & Traffic Safety
While all local roads have completely reopened, several traffic signals across the area remain non-functional or are flashing.
Safety Reminder: If you encounter a traffic light that is completely dark or flashing yellow, state law and safety guidelines require you to treat the intersection as a 4-way stop.
Medical Equipment Assistance
If you or a neighbor require electricity to operate essential medical equipment and are currently without power, please contact the Brecksville Fire Department at 440-526-2640 for assistance.

The following facilities are open to all residents who need to take a hot shower, charge electronic devices, watch the news, or simply grab a cup of coffee:

Storm Debris & Tree Branch Removal
If you have downed tree branches on your property, you may place them directly on your treelawn unbundled. The City Service Department will be circulating throughout the neighborhood to collect debris for the remainder of this week.
