Delays in the authorization of mobility equipment can be one of the most frustrating parts of the workers’ compensation process, for both injured workers and the professionals involved in their care. At MedSolutions, we work closely with injured workers, physicians, adjusters, case managers, and attorneys to help navigate the process of obtaining authorization for mobility equipment and necessary repairs. 🔧🦽
While we do everything we can to help move cases forward, there are times when delays occur that are outside of our control. These delays can happen for a variety of reasons, including documentation requirements, physician review timelines, or the utilization review process. ⏳📋
When an issue with mobility equipment arises, taking action early can make a significant difference in how quickly the situation is addressed. Here are a few steps that can help move the process along:
📞🚨Contact us directly as soon as a problem occurs.
–The sooner we are aware of the issue, the sooner we can evaluate the equipment, provide documentation, and help initiate the process for repair or replacement if needed.
🩺📅Schedule an appointment with your treating workers’ compensation physician.
–It is important that the issue is properly documented in your medical record. Your physician can evaluate the problem and submit a Request for Authorization (RFA) so that the equipment or service can be formally reviewed.
📣👥Notify your adjuster, nurse case manager, and/or attorney.
–Keeping all parties informed ensures that everyone involved in the claim is aware of the situation and can help support the authorization process.
Taking these steps early, at the first sign of a problem, can help prevent unnecessary delays and improve the chances of getting the equipment or service authorized as quickly as possible. 🚀⏱️
At MedSolutions, our goal is always to support injured workers by providing timely evaluations, clear documentation, and effective communication with the entire care team. 💙📋
