UT Health Quitman’s Senior Life Solutions team is helping Quitman observe Su***de Prevention & Awareness Month with bookmarks, a library display, yard signs around town, and plenty of purple and teal. 💜🩵

Purple represents those who have lost a friend or loved one to su***de. Teal represents support for someone who is struggling or has attempted su***de.

As you see purple and teal throughout the month, let it be a reminder to check in, listen, start the conversation, and remind someone that they matter.

Together, we can help raise awareness, offer support, and honor those we have lost. UT Health East Texas

Hospitals are being asked to do more with behavioral health, often with fewer resources, tighter margins, and greater patient complexity.

PMC helps hospitals strengthen inpatient behavioral health unit performance through experienced unit management, clinical leadership, staffing, regulatory readiness, and operational best practices.
For healthcare executives, the goal is simple: create a behavioral health service line that is clinically strong, financially sustainable, and aligned with the needs of the community.

If your hospital is evaluating how to stabilize, grow, or improve an inpatient behavioral health unit, PMC can help.

Recent CDC guidance reminds employers that workplace stress and burnout are not just personal challenges. They affect health, families, job performance, and entire organizations.

Mental health matters at work because people matter at work.

When leaders create healthier environments, reduce stigma, encourage time to rest, and connect employees with support, they help build stronger teams and healthier communities.

If you or someone you work with is feeling overwhelmed, anxious, burned out, or hopeless, support is available. Reaching out is a sign of strength.

September marks Su***de Prevention & Awareness Month, a time to remind one another that support can begin with a conversation, a check-in, or one brave step toward care.

This year, our theme is “Help and Hope Are Close By.” It reflects a message we want every person to hear: You do not have to face a hard season alone. Support may be closer than it feels, through a trusted friend, a family member, a care provider, a local resource, or a mental health professional.

If you or someone you love is struggling, reach out. Help is available, and hope can start right where you are.

If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a crisis, call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Depression, anxiety, uncontrolled grief, and suicidal thoughts are increasingly common among older adults, but access to specialized behavioral healthcare remains limited in many communities.

Hospitals that invest in senior behavioral health programs aren't just filling a service gap, they're improving patient outcomes, supporting families, and strengthening their role as an essential community resource.

At Psychiatric Medical Care, we partner with rural hospitals to develop and optimize geriatric behavioral health programs that deliver:
- Better patient outcomes
- Strong physician engagement
- Sustainable financial performance
- Greater access to care for an underserved population

Your community's seniors deserve specialized behavioral healthcare close to home.

Let's build it together.

Sleep continues to be one of the most important factors for overall health, but did you know...

Nearly half of adults (45%) say family responsibilities make it difficult to get quality sleep. Work stress (39%), physical health challenges (39%), mental health concerns (37%), housing costs (36%), and demanding work schedules (35%) also take a significant toll.

If you're struggling to sleep, you're not alone. Addressing the stressors behind sleepless nights is just as important as improving your sleep habits.

According to a survey from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the pressures of daily life impact how well adults sleep.

What would freeing up just a few ED beds every day mean for your hospital?

Every hour a behavioral health patient boards in the ED creates ripple effects:

• Longer wait times
• Reduced patient satisfaction
• Increased staff burnout
• Lost capacity for medical emergencies
• Higher operational costs

The solution isn't simply adding more beds. It's creating a behavioral health continuum that moves patients to the right level of care faster. We help hospitals reduce behavioral health boarding through proven strategies that include:

• Inpatient behavioral health program development
• Behavioral health assessment
• Psychiatric assessment
• Patient placement assistance

When behavioral health patients receive timely, appropriate care, everyone benefits, including your ED, your staff, and your community.

These numbers are heartbreaking and a reminder that mental health matters at every age.

In 2025, 194 children ages 8–12 died by su***de in the U.S., according to CDC data. That's the highest number recorded in more than two decades. Research also shows pr***en su***de rates have been rising, with some of the largest increases affecting Black, Hispanic, Native American children, and girls.

These statistics remind us that emotional struggles can begin long before the teenage years. By creating safe spaces, listening without judgment, and seeking support early, we can help children feel seen, heard, and hopeful.

If you're concerned about a child, don't wait to start the conversation. Early intervention can make a life-changing difference.
