One of the greatest compliments we can receive is knowing our care helps someone feel supported, while still maintaining their dignity and independence.

“I feel like they've been really good for my mother...they provide the basic assistance, but in a way that makes my mom feel pampered instead of invalid.”

Care should never make someone feel like they are losing their independence. We’re proud to provide support in a way that helps our clients feel cared for, valued, and maybe even a little pampered along the way.

July Caregiver of the Month: Phyllis Smith

Yesterday, Jeremy had the pleasure of surprising our July Caregiver of the Month, Phyllis Smith!

This year marks five years of Phyllis being a part of the Touching Hearts family, and what an incredible five years it has been. Throughout her time with us, Phyllis has consistently been one of our top caregivers, even working the most hours of any caregiver for several years in a row. Her dedication, reliability, and heart for serving others have made a lasting impact on both our clients and our team.

Phyllis goes above and beyond for every client she serves, always making sure they receive the highest level of compassionate, personalized care. She is someone we can count on to step in when last-minute needs arise, often picking up shifts during call-outs to ensure our clients never go without the care they deserve.

Beyond the care she provides, Phyllis is a wonderful ambassador for Touching Hearts. She is always sharing with others in the community why home care is so important and advocating for the difference our services make in the lives of families.

Phyllis, thank you for your five years of compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to those we serve. We are so grateful for everything you have done and continue to do. Congratulations on being our July Caregiver of the Month—this recognition is so well deserved!

Some of the most meaningful moments happen in the simplest ways.

This month, our caregiver, Terri Caldwell, wanted to make her client's birthday one to remember. She surprised her with a Hawaiian-themed celebration, decorating the kitchen, preparing homemade Hawaiian dishes (including this beautiful shrimp cocktail!), and spending the day singing Elvis songs together.

These are the moments that remind us what caregiving is truly about. It's about showing up, building trust, creating joy, and becoming someone who feels like family.

We're so grateful for caregivers like Terri, who pour their hearts into caring for others and make such a lasting impact on the lives of the people they serve. Happy Birthday to one very special client, and thank you, Terri, for making her day so unforgettable.

Caring for a loved one is one of the most meaningful roles a person can take on, but it can also be one of the most challenging.

We're encouraged to see Tennessee's new Caring for Caregivers Law now in effect, providing eligible family caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer's disease or dementia access to financial assistance for expenses like respite care, home modifications, medical equipment, and other essential needs. This pilot program is an important step toward recognizing and supporting the incredible work family caregivers do every day. 💜

If you or someone you know is caring for a loved one with dementia, this may be a valuable resource worth exploring.
