Grief doesn’t always follow a death.

It can come with a move. A new job. The end of a relationship. A version of your life you know you can’t go back to.

It can come with getting sober, too.

You can know you’re making the right decision and still grieve what you’re leaving behind. Both can be true.

On , we’re making room for the grief that can be harder to name.

Victoria Siegel was 18 years old when she died from a drug overdose in 2015.

After her death, her parents discovered her diary. Her words. Her art. Her experience with drugs and alcohol, written as she was living it.

That diary became "Victoria’s Voice."

For Overdose Awareness Month, we’re sharing this book from our partners at Victoria's Voice Foundation in Las Vegas because hearing directly from a young person who was struggling can help parents see things they might otherwise miss.

We keep talking about naloxone because people need to know where to get it before there’s an emergency.

You can buy it over the counter. You may be able to get it free or at low cost through programs in your community. And a simple search with “naloxone + your ZIP code” can help you find options nearby.

As we approach International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, this is information worth knowing and sharing.

Surviving an overdose can feel like the crisis is over. It isn’t.

An overdose can happen again, especially after a period of not using or using less. Keep naloxone nearby. Check in. Talk about what happened.

For Overdose Awareness Month, know what to do next, and keep showing up.

These two may be taking that assignment a little too seriously. 😂🐾

“Pink co***ne” sounds like the name of a specific drug. It isn’t.

Also known as Tusi, what’s sold under that name can contain a mix of substances, including ketamine, M**A, co***ne, methamphetamine and, in some samples, fentanyl.

That unpredictability is part of the risk—and something more people should be aware of during Overdose Awareness Month.

You don’t have to work in healthcare to be the person who needs to know how to respond to an opioid overdose.

Philip Van Guilder, our Corporate Director of Community Relations, knows that firsthand. He used Narcan to help save his own son’s life.

In this video, Philip demonstrates how to administer Narcan and what to do when you suspect an opioid overdose.

If you keep Narcan on hand, know where it is. Make sure the people around you know, too. And learn how to use it before the moment you need it.

With International Overdose Awareness Day coming up on August 31, we’ll be talking more about overdose prevention this week. This felt like an important place to start.

In a suspected overdose, call 911 and follow the current instructions provided with your naloxone product.

This video shares personal experience and general educational information. It is not a substitute for formal naloxone or CPR training.

Weekends can hit differently when you’re struggling with addiction or trying to stay sober.

Plans change. There’s more downtime. You may find yourself around people, places, or situations you’ve been trying to avoid.

Whatever this weekend looks like for you, keep the people who support you close. And if you need more help than that, reach out. 💛

One pill can contain fentanyl without the person taking it knowing.

On Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day, that’s something worth talking about. Illicitly manufactured fentanyl can be found in counterfeit pills made to resemble prescription medications, and there’s no way to tell by sight alone.

Share this. It’s information that could save a life.
