My heart is so full after this morning 🌻

This incredible young woman started a club at Heritage High School here in Brentwood called More Than a Number it focuses on eating disorder awareness and the very real daily struggles teens face with body image, self worth, and their relationship with food. Today she was at the Brentwood Farmers Market selling shirts and canvas bags to support her mission.

If you’re in Brentwood today go find her. Buy something, donate or give the club a follow to support a teen who is already changing lives in our community.

All bodies are good bodies. All numbers are just numbers. 🤍

Today the “More Than a Number” club at Heritage High School brought these handmade Valentines filled with affirmations for my office, for clients to read and take with them as a small but meaningful reminder that they’re more than a number.

Seeing students advocate for eating disorder awareness gives me so much hope. Thank you for the heart behind this work đź’Ś

The holidays are winding down. Hanukkah has ended. Holiday gatherings are in full swing. And the new year is already being framed as a “reset.”

Diet culture tells us that enjoyment needs to be followed by restriction. And January is about becoming someone “better” by shrinking ourselves.

But we don’t step into the new year empty. We bring our histories, our bodies, our resilience, and everything that has helped us survive and adapt.
None of that needs to be erased ✨

If you’re in recovery (or even just thinking about it) the new year doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. Maybe it simply means noticing the urge to “make up for” holiday eating and choosing, even briefly, not to act on it.

Even just for this moment, consider offering yourself a little grace. Resting and letting food be food.

That, too, is something worth carrying into the new year 🤍

If today feels heavy, complicated, or just different, you’re not doing anything wrong. Holidays can bring a mix of food pressure, body comments, old dynamics, and emotions you weren’t expecting.

Here are a few reminders for today:

✨ Eat consistently.
Skipping meals or “saving up” won’t make the day easier, your body still needs steady fuel.

✨ Plate your food and sit to eat.
One plate at a time can help you slow down and stay present.

✨ Take breaks.
Step outside. Breathe. You’re allowed to pause conversations that feel too much.

✨ You don’t owe anyone a response to diet or body talk. A simple “Let’s talk about something else” is enough.

✨ Hard moments don’t erase your progress.
You’re allowed to show up imperfectly today.

Whether you’re with family, working, or spending today quietly you deserve nourishment and care.

One meal, one moment at a time. đź’›
