While moments like these can feel satisfying, they probably don’t happen as often as you think. And it doesn’t mean therapy isn’t working.

Much of the therapy journey builds off itself in a series of steps over time. In this way, some of the indicators of progress often are not the flashiest to say the least.

Most people won’t experience one singular instance that completely changes the work.
It is likely that you’ll notice slight shifts in between sessions and changes in the you show up day-to-day.

🌿You’re going to therapy, you’re doing the work, and seeing the change you want. Then, you also start to notice problems in your relationships pop up that haven’t before. Why would this happen if things are going well for you???

❤️‍🩹Often, healing involves realizing what no longer fits your life anymore. Maybe it’s keeping the peace. Maybe it’s people pleasing or boundaries. If people in your life have been used to these dynamics, it may elicit a different response when they are no longer happening. When you do something different, you often get something different. And there may be people who are not quite okay with it.

🌱This isn’t to say you need to end a friendship or relationship. It’s an opportunity for repair and growth.

The emotional exhaustion. Irritability. Muscle tension. It all becomes too much. Of course, it would make sense that you find yourself wanting to just get away from it all.

While vacations are a great chance to relax and unwind, alone, they are not enough to change burnout.

Usually, they act as a temporary patch to the situation. All of the stressors, routines, poor boundaries, unhelpful patterns await upon your return.

Burnout recovery is about getting to what is at the root.

🗣️Talking with a therapist about the burnout you’re experiencing can be a beneficial option.

Life transitions can be exciting…and overwhelming at the same time!

Whether you’re starting college, changing careers, navigating a relationship shift, becoming a parent, moving to a new city, or stepping into a new season of life, transitions often bring a mix of emotions. It’s completely normal to feel uncertain, anxious, excited, hopeful, and scared all at once.

One thing our clinician reminds clients often: you don’t have to have everything figured out right now. 🌱

Transitions invite us to let go of what was, make space for what is, and slowly build trust in what’s next. While that process isn’t always comfortable, it can also be an opportunity for growth, self-discovery, and connection.

A few gentle reminders:
✨ Give yourself permission to feel all of your emotions
✨ Lean on your support system
✨ Focus on the next step, not the entire staircase
✨ Remember that growth often feels uncomfortable before it feels empowering

If you’re navigating a life transition right now, know that you’re not alone. 🤍

Check out our latest blog for more on coping with change and finding support through life’s transitions.

Though it may be tough to hear, but it’s all too easy to call lack of meaningful relationships and social engagement “independence.”

Independence is about intentional boundaries, self-awareness, and meeting needs.

Ideally, we want a balance between the two: the ability to have supportive connections, while remaining capable of handling our own lives.

We live in such a hyperconnected world, yet are still so disconnected from one another. You can have a lot of people in your life and still feel lonely. There is no replacement for being truly known and seen by others. This takes an honest (and sometimes tough) conversation with ourselves.

Connections through quick likes or comments keep us at surface level. Meaningful relationships come through appropriate vulnerability, presence, and consistency.

Communication in relationships isn’t just about talking more - it’s about feeling heard, understood, and emotionally safe with each other 🤍

A few small shifts can completely change the way conversations feel with your partner:
✨ Active listening instead of planning your response
✨ Using “I feel…” instead of blame
✨ Staying curious instead of defensive
✨ Remembering it’s you two vs. the problem, not vs. each other

Healthy communication doesn’t mean never disagreeing. It means learning how to navigate hard moments with care, honesty, and connection. 🫶

If communication has been feeling hard lately, you’re not alone. These are skills we can actually practice and strengthen over time.
