🎸 Day 3: Our Values — F.I.R.E.

At Southeast Psych Nashville, our values drive our decisions as a practice.

🔥 Fun. Innovation. Relationships. Excellence.

Fun is a big part of who we are. Even though our work is serious stuff, we believe that humor and play are an essential part of a healthy workplace. When appropriate, laughter can be an important component of powerful therapy as well.

Innovation means continuing to grow, think creatively, and find new ways to make psychology accessible and meaningful for the people we serve.

Relationships are at the heart of our practice. We want to have healthy relationships with each other, our clients, and our community partners.

Excellence is the value that drives our commitment to evidence-based practice. It’s important to us to hire the best clinicians around. We are APA-sponsored to provide continuing education for other clinicians.

For 10 years, F.I.R.E. has helped shape the culture of Southeast Psych Nashville—and these memories are just a glimpse of what those values have looked like along the way. ❤️🖤

Swipe to see some of the FUN behind the F.I.R.E. 🔥🎸

Day 2: Our Mission

Our mission is “Psychology for All.”

From the very beginning, our goal has been simple: to make high-quality mental health care accessible to as many people as possible.

Before we even opened our doors, we visited nearly 70 schools, physicians’ offices, churches, and community organizations because we believed that meaningful relationships are the foundation of serving a community. We received calls on our very first day, and since then, we’ve been honored to become a trusted resource for individuals, families, schools, churches, healthcare providers, and businesses throughout Nashville and Middle Tennessee.

Over the years, we’ve intentionally grown at a steady pace so we could continue providing the highest quality of care. Today, our services have expanded to include psychoeducational testing, support for artists and athletes, perinatal and postpartum mental health, Workers’ Compensation services, neuropsychological and forensic assessments, executive functioning coaching, corporate mental health services, and so much more.

We’ve also loved bringing people together through open houses, continuing education workshops, counselor breakfasts, and other community events.

For 10 years, our mission has remained the same: Psychology for All. ❤️

Day 1: Our Story 🎸

Twenty-five years ago, Dr. Dave Verhaagen founded Southeast Psych in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a simple vision: to create a psychology practice where clinical excellence, innovation, and genuine human connection could thrive together. By bringing together some of the nation’s most talented mental health professionals, he built a practice known not only for exceptional care, but also for fostering fun, healthy relationships, and a collaborative culture.

Years later, Dr. Lauren King joined the Southeast Psych team as a psychologist. During her time there, she experienced firsthand what made the practice so special. As a Nashville native, she was inspired by the idea that her hometown deserved the same exceptional level of psychological care and community-centered approach.

In the summer of 2016, that vision became a reality. Dr. Verhaagen, Dr. King, and a dedicated group of psychologists opened the doors of Southeast Psych Nashville, bringing the practice’s signature blend of clinical excellence, innovation, and authentic connection to Middle Tennessee.

This is just the beginning of our story. Join us over the next 5 days as we celebrate our journey, reflect on the moments that shaped us, and look ahead to the future of Southeast Psych Nashville.
