What's actually spooky this October? 👻 (Hint: it's not the haunted house.)

We love a good pumpkin patch and a friendly prank as much as anyone — but this season, we're counting down the things that are scarier than any jump scare:

🎃 A nervous system stuck in fight-or-flight, with no off switch
🎃 Tension quietly building in a body that hasn't been checked in ages
🎃 Ignoring something because "it doesn't hurt" — even though the nervous system doesn't always send a pain signal when it needs help
🎃 Not realizing a clear, connected nervous system is available to your whole family
🎃 And the spookiest of all: waiting until something's really wrong instead of catching it early

The good news? None of this has to be your story. A clear neuro-spinal system is one of the least spooky (and most empowering!) things you can give yourself and your family this season.

Skip the haunted house — come get adjusted at our office instead. We promise fewer jump scares. 🍂

Before the tubes conversation, there's a question worth asking.

If you're on your third (or fourth, or fifth) round of antibiotics and the ear infections keep coming back, we know how exhausting and discouraging that cycle is. You're not failing — you're just missing a piece of the picture.

So much of chronic ear infection struggles in babies and toddlers comes down to drainage. The eustachian tubes sit more horizontally in little ones, so fluid doesn't clear as easily — and how well that whole system functions is directly connected to the nervous system, right where the upper neck meets the base of the skull. Birth stress, falls, tummy time struggles, even the process of simply growing can create tension here that interferes with the body's ability to drain and adapt on its own.

We're not here to tell you chiropractic "cures" ear infections — that's not how any of this works, and we'll never claim it does. What we do is support your child's neuro-spinal system so their body has the clearest possible line of communication to do what it's designed to do: heal.

At our office, this looks like a thorough, gentle assessment and adjustments so light most parents are surprised anything happened at all — followed by watching your child's body respond.

"Just a phase," or a nervous system asking for help? Here's how to tell.

Every kid fidgets — movement is a normal, healthy way little bodies self-regulate. But there's a real difference between a child who fidgets and can still settle when they need to, and a child whose body seems stuck in constant motion because "still" isn't available to them.

That second pattern often points to a nervous system running in a low-grade stress response — using movement as the only tool it has to cope. If the fidgeting comes alongside trouble sleeping, big emotional swings, sensory sensitivities, or just a feeling in your gut that something's off, that instinct is worth listening to.

You don't have to guess. At our office, we check to see how your child's neuro-spinal system is adapting to stress. From there, gentle, specific chiropractic care supports a clearer, more connected nervous system, giving your child's body a stronger foundation to self-regulate — whether this turns out to be a phase or something more.

Your baby has a flat spot on their head. You're told it's cosmetic and they will just “grow into it” but here's what they're not telling you.

That flat head isn't just a cosmetic issue but a sign that your baby's nervous system isn't functioning optimally. Your baby head can't move freely in one direction in which compensates the entire spinal system. When we notice a restriction on the cranials, it will impact everything else in the body. You will notice body tension/ favoring one side or issues with latch and breastfeeding as cranial and oral function go hand in hand. We want to catch this compensation pattern sooner than later.

The Science:
Plagiocephaly happens when a baby favors one side. But why? Usually because there's spinal tension or imbalance that makes one direction uncomfortable or restricted. Birth trauma creates upper cervical imbalance. That imbalance makes one side of movement painful or difficult. So baby favors the other side. Over time, the favored side flattens.

The flat head is a symptom. The spinal imbalance is the cause.

Your baby's nervous system is telling you something is wrong. The head shape is just the visible sign.

How Chiropractic Helps:
Upper cervical adjustments release the restriction. Your baby can move freely in both directions again. Once movement is restored, you combine that with positioning therapy and tummy time. The head naturally rounds out as your baby develops normally.

Babies who get early chiropractic care often never develop flat head syndrome. Prevention is so much easier than correction.

You Don't Have to Accept "That's Just How Babies Are."

Your baby's flat head is telling you their nervous system needs support. Early intervention makes all the difference. Your baby deserves to develop symmetrically.

Get their spine checked. Address the restriction. Let their body do what it's designed to do. 💚

Is it "just ADHD," or is it a nervous system asking for help?

If mornings feel like a battle and every school note home makes your stomach drop, we want you to hear this: your child's behavior isn't a character flaw, and you haven't failed at this. It's information.

The neuro-spinal system has two main modes — regulated (calm, connected, adaptable) or dysregulated (stuck in fight, flight, or freeze). Focus, impulse control, and the ability to sit still and follow through all live in that regulated state. When a child's nervous system is carrying more stress than it can process — from birth stress, falls, screen time, or just growing fast — those "ADHD behaviors" are often the visible tip of an overloaded nervous system.

This is where we come in. At our office, we check to see how your child's nervous system is adapting to stress, and our gentle, specific adjustments help clear the interference so their body has more capacity to self-regulate, focus, and connect.

You don't have to choose between "wait and see" and "medicate and hope." There's a path that starts with understanding your child's nervous system.

Adolescence isn't just an awkward growth phase — it's a critical window for how your teen's body (and nervous system) will function for years to come.

Rapid growth, hours of sitting at desks, screen time posture, and the emotional load of the teenage years all ask the body to compensate — and those compensation patterns can quietly become permanent if nothing interrupts them.

It's not just about how they're sitting. It's about how their nervous system is learning to carry stress, physically and emotionally, during a season when their whole system is still being built.

Catching these patterns now, while the body is still adaptable, matters more than most people realize.

"Just think positive."
"Try not to worry so much." "Calm down."

If any of those phrases have ever made your anxiety WORSE instead of better, you're not broken — you're just being asked to think your way out of a body problem.

Anxiety and emotional dysregulation aren't purely mental events. They're nervous system events. When your body senses threat — real or perceived — it shifts into survival mode: fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. That shift happens in the body FIRST, milliseconds before your thinking brain even catches up.

That's why willpower alone often doesn't work. You can't think your way out of a state your body is already in.

What DOES work is approaching it from the body up: helping the nervous system feel safe enough to come out of survival mode, so your thinking brain has room to come back online.

This is the body-first approach — and it's why nervous system care is about so much more than back pain.

If you are looking for REAL support for your body, we are here to help.

The 6-week postpartum check is well known. The 6-week newborn check? Not so much — and we're here to change that. 👶

So much attention (rightfully) goes to mom's 6-week follow-up. But baby has been through a major physical event too — birth — and their nervous system deserves the same level of attention mom's does.

Birth is one of the most physically intense experiences a body will ever go through, and baby's body is no exception. Whatever positioning, pressure, or pulling happened on the way into the world doesn't just disappear once baby arrives — it can leave tension patterns in the spine and nervous system that baby's body has to adapt around.

We're looking at how well baby's nervous system is adapting to life outside the womb by checking:

→ Tension patterns from birth positioning
→ Asymmetries — does baby turn, feed, or hold their body more easily on one side?
→ Feeding mechanics — is the latch, suck, and swallow sequence coordinated the way it should be?
→ Overall regulation — how baby's nervous system is settling in

This is the heart of what we believe here at THE TABLE CHIROPRACTIC: the body has an incredible, innate capacity to adapt and thrive — but that capacity works best when the nervous system is clear and free of interference from day one. This check isn't about waiting until something feels "off." It's about giving your baby's nervous system the best possible start, right from the beginning.
