On Friday, June 26, 2026 Avista lost one of the best!!!!! Deb had no intention of returning to long term care and certainly not as a director of nursing. However, true to the essence of Deb, When Avista needed her she stepped in and then stepped up. She did not have the ability to let people down, especially if she knew they needed her, trusted her, loved her or worst yet believed in her.
Deb always fought for every resident to be treated with the dignity they deserved often her depths of knowledge connected dots when no one else could. Deb never met a staff member that didn't deserve a second chance. She passed no judgment on anyone regardless of what brought them to her door.
Deb could make the most clinically complex situations comprehensible to any audience.
Debs years of experience from direct caregiver to Director of Nursing and everything in between created an intuition that was always spot on.
Regardless of any adversity she ever encountered she showed up for life every single day worried never about herself only how she could make life better for others!
She was not only one heck of a nurse, most importantly that beautiful soul was our friend! You are gone but you will never be forgotten. Your love cast a wide net and was appreciated for the gift that it is. Bless you our friend may your eternal rest be as delightful as your heavenly presence on earth.
