What made the night so meaningful was seeing the incredible community that surrounds Maggie. Family, friends, church members, colleagues, community leaders, and countless others came together to honor someone who has spent her life caring for others.

The Citizen of the Year tradition began nearly 81 years ago from a simple but powerful idea: to recognize the citizens of Stamford who were making a difference at home while our active-duty military members were serving abroad. Since then, generations of extraordinary Stamford residents have been honored, and last night Maggie joined that distinguished group.

A special thank you to the Citizen of the Year Committee Stamford Citizen of the Year , with co-chairs Gary Stone and Rick Redniss, and to the wonderful Jami Sherwood, whose leadership helped create such a memorable celebration.

Those of us who know Maggie understand why so many people filled the room. She has a gift for making every person feel seen, supported, valued, and loved. She reminds us that compassion matters, that recovery is possible, and that sometimes the most important thing we can do is pause and take a breath.

Congratulations, Maggie. This honor is so well deserved, and Stamford is a better community because of you.
