I always set out on adventures to learn about the world. The places, the people, the way life looks somewhere that isn’t mine.
And every time, I head home having learned more about myself as well. Alaska was no exception.
Something about standing somewhere this big and this unfamiliar, this far from anything that resembles home, quiets all the usual noise until the only thing left is what’s actually mine to carry.
The stranger the ground under me, the more clearly I see who’s standing on it. I keep expecting the unfamiliar to unsettle me but somehow that’s the exact thing that settles me back into myself.
