Gerald Joseph “Jerry” Leon, 80, of Bridgeport, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in the United Hospital Center following a brief illness. He was born in Clarksburg on March 21, 1946, a son of the late Joseph and Enid Mahaffey Leon.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Karen Ann (Pratt) Leon, whom he married on August 30, 1968.

Also surviving are 4 sons, Christopher Leon, of Bridgeport; Benjamin Leon and his wife April of Charlotte, NC; Joshua Leon and his wife Holly of Bridgeport; and James Leon and his wife Rachael of Las Vegas, NV; and four grandchildren, Beckett, Lila, Owen, and Caden. A sister, Linda Arthur and her husband Frank of Akron, OH; his nephew, Joe Arthur, and a niece, Susan Arthur complete his family.

Jerry graduated from Bridgeport High School before serving in the US National Guard. He retired from JE Sturm where he was a sheet metal worker and installed heating and air conditioning. He was a member of Mountaineer Cruiser’s Car Club, and a member of All Saints Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made to Breast Cancer Research Foundation at give.bcrf.org.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 2 – 6 p.m., where a Vigil Service will be held at 6 p.m. to conclude the visitation. Visitation will continue at All Saints Catholic Church on Saturday, June 6, 2026, beginning at 9 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. with Father Walt Jagela as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Donley H. Smith III passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Donley “Donnie” was born April 2, 1969, in Fairmont, WV. He is survived by his wife, Wendy; her sons, Joey and Justin Michael; two grand-daughters, Raylee and Ashlynn Michael; his mother, Linda Smith; brother, Gary Joseph Smith; and sister, Cindy Knotts. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Jessie Smith and maternal grandparents, George and Martha Stackhouse; and his father, Donley H. Smith, Jr.

Donnie retired from the U.S Army. After his retirement he drive truck for several companies. He had recently been a flagger for Arnett, Inc.

As per his wishes there will be no services and he will be interred in the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton.

Harry “Delmas” Marks, Sr., 76, of Bridgeport, Stone Coal community, passed away at his residence on Monday, May 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born at home in Stone Coal on February 15, 1950, a son of the late Harry and Anna Marie Edwards Marks.
He is survived by his sons, Harry Delmas “Delmie” Marks, Jr. and his wife Kristi Marks of Stone Coal; his son, James William Corbin; his grandson, Michael “Shea” Marks and his fiancé Courtney, of Fairmont; his granddaughters, Kylie Marie Marks and fiancé Zack, of Philippi; Jenna Gabrielle Corbin of TN; Jamie Isabella Corbin of MI; and Malina Jade Corbin of Clarksburg; his great-grandson, Kacey Jay McCauley; and great-granddaughter, Gemma Paige Metz. His brothers, Clyde William Marks of Clarksburg; Timothy Paul Marks and his wife Peggie of Junior; his sisters, Anna Lyvone Cunningham and her husband Frank of Bridgeport; Mary Frances Flowers and her husband Ed of Bridgeport; Judy Paulette Miller of Shinnston; and Carolyn Louise Marks of Shinnston; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins complete his family.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Fay Marks, Rickie Allen Marks; and Roy Lee Marks; and a sister, Patty June Marks.
Delmas was last employed as a coal truck driver for Walter R. Jones Trucking. He was an avid fisherman and classic car lover. He spent most of his time in his garage restoring classic cars including his 1967 Ford Mustang and 1957 Ford Fairlane 500; which were his pride and joys. He loved attending car shows and won many awards at the shows he attended. He also enjoyed sitting in his lazy boy watching westerns and loved a good hot dog. He was happiest when around family, sitting on a river bank, and when he was in his garage. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 10 a.m. – 12 Noon, where services will be held at 12 Noon with Reverend Lonnie Linn presiding. Interment will follow in Trinity Cemetery.

On Thursday, May 14, 2026, Freddie "Fred" W. Tennant of Bridgeport, WV passed away at his home at the age of 88 years. He was born July 29, 1937 in Daybrook, WV.
He graduated from Clay-Battelle High School in 1955 and was a proud graduate of Fairmont State College in 1959 with a degree in Accounting. As a young man Fred enjoyed working as a truck driver, and held positions at a finance company, and a steel mill. After college, Fred accepted a position with Consolidated Gas Corp (Dominion) at their Pittsburgh office. He moved his family to Bridgeport and stayed with Consolidated Gas as Division IV Accountant at their Clarksburg location for 33 years.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Billie Dawn (Lloyd) Tennant; son David Tennant and partner Beverly Huffman of Bridgeport; and daughter Debra Tennant of Morgantown. He was preceded in death by his father Kelly Tennant and mother Emma (Wilson) Tennant, and brother Arnold Tennant.
Fred grew up on a working farm and developed mechanical and carpentry skills that he would use throughout his life. Fred loved classic and muscle cars and was a skilled backyard mechanic. He restored and maintained many vehicles and appreciated keeping them tuned up and clean. He fixed anything around the house and was generous with his time to assist friends and neighbors with tasks like roofing or landscaping. He was meticulous and had one of the best manicured lawns in town and his car was always spotless. Fred enjoyed dirt track races, NASCAR, and WVU and Bridgeport High School football. He was a wonderful father - supporting his kids' passions for race cars, horses, and pet rescue. He was active and present with those he loved - rebuilding cars, driving the horse trailer to horse shows as the driver and horse groom, and driver/dog walker on dog rescue transports. He really enjoyed spending time on his boat on Tygart Lake and taking his "grand beagles" to the park. Fred was active in supporting the Daybrook Cemetery to ensure its ongoing care and maintenance.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all Fred's caregivers for their kindness, support and loving care.

Dorothy “Wanda” Rawlings, 93, of Bridgeport, went to be her Heavenly Father on Friday, May 8, 2026, in the United Hospital Center. She was born in Harman, WV on February 18, 1933, a daughter of the late Odus and Flakie Smith. Wanda was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Smith who she married on May 5, 1962. She was also preceded in death by her four sisters, Ella Mae Lambert and her husband Emmett; Opal Stevanus and her husband Pete; Dolores Ryder and her husband Cameron; and Annabelle McChesney; her brother, Charles Smith and her son-in-law, Danny Shepherd.

Wanda is survived by her children Marva Shepherd-Russell and her husband Roger Russell of Jane Lew, and Alvin Smith of Bridgeport; her grandchildren Breanna Fingernagel and her husband Chris; and Brenton Shepherd and his wife Brittany; her brother Carl Smith and his wife Goldie; a sister- in- law Hilda Smith and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Wanda graduated from Harman High School and Worked for C&P and Bell Atlantic Telephone for 38 years. She started first in Elkins as a cord board operator, then later moved to Bridgeport and worked at the Anmoore Storeroom as a drawing clerk. She enjoyed gardening, attending church functions, and spending time with her family.

Clarence Edward Rawlings
Clarence Edward Rawlings born in Charleston, West Virginia on August 31, 1932 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility. He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Jane Affolter and Ronald Edgar Rawlings; his first wife, Ella Mae Rawlings; his son, Mark Edward Rawlings; and his brother, Bob Rawlings.

Clarence is survived by two of his children Pamela Allen and her husband John, Thomas Rawlings and his wife Patty, his daughter-in-law Sherry Rawlings, and his sister-in-law Norma Rawlings and her children Christopher Rawlings and Heather Rawlings Shivazad. He had five grandchildren Amber Loyacano and her husband Joe, Kara West and her husband Conrad, Noah Rawlings, Nicholas Rawlings and his wife Ashley, and Tabitha Rawlings. He also had eight great grandchildren Emma Loyacano, Fletcher West, Sullivan West, Zoey Rawlings, T.J. Rawlings, Ryan Rawlings, Emma Rawlings, and Bryson Borthwick.

Clarence was an Airman Second Class in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He received medals for Korean Service, United Nations Service, National Defense Service, and Good Conduct.

After his return from service, he married Ella Mae on November 19, 1955. Together they had three children. In the early 1960s they moved to Bridgeport, WV where Clarence was employed as a meat cutter at the Pure Food store where he worked his way up to manager and eventually owned the store. He was known for his welcoming nature and his handmade ham salad and cheese salad. People still ask for the recipe.

After the passing of their first spouses, Clarence and Wanda were married in July of 1990.

Upon retirement, he was active at Shepherd’s Corner and within his church community at Bridgeport Baptist. He was a faithful deacon and was given the title of Deacon Emeritus in 2018. You could usually find him at the hardware store or set up at the local Flea Markets making deals. He enjoyed working with his church family and being with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews from both sides of his family. Clarence never met a person that he couldn’t make smile. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation of Wanda and Clarence will be held at the Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 5-7pm, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Geneva Wilfong, 99, of Rosemont, passed away Sunday May 10, 2026, in Taylor Healthcare Center. She was born in Philippi on September 21, 1926, a daughter of the late Bird and Delphi (Tayor) Trimble.
In August 1948, she married Raymond Wilfong when they were both 21 years old. He passed away on December 26, 1969.
She is survived by 6 children, Tommy Wilfong of Maryland; Gary Wilfong and his wife Katrina of Bridgeport; James Wilfong of Rosemont; Nancy Seese and her companion Mark Wilson of Flemington; Bruce Wilfong and his wife Kathy of Rosemont; and Pamela Harman and her husband David of Flemington; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Christopher Gene Wilfong and Karen Wilfong, and a great-grandson, Thomas Raymond Wilfong. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by her brother, Robert Trimble and his wife Louise; and two sisters, Juanita Wilfong and her husband George; and Lorinda Trimble, who passed away as a child.
Geneva enjoyed baking, listening to the radio and doing crosswords. She also enjoyed reading the paper, playing checkers and she made the best fried chicken you ever ate. She loved working in the garden and she loved her animals. But most of all, she enjoyed her family and loved seeing them all of the time.

Harold Evan Stewart, 90 passed away on May 7, 2026, at United Hospital Center. He was the son of Dorothy and Harold C. Stewart.

Harold was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, proud great grandfather, and faithful servant of the Lord. His kind heart, gentle spirit, and deep love for family and friends will be greatly remembered.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Dorothy Jean Stewart, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories; two daughters, Donna Hall and husband Dana, Diana Hoskinson and husband Carlton "Sonny". He was a proud and active grandfather to four grandchildren and their families, Lyndon Evan Hall and wife Samantha, Abigail Lister and husband JD, Kelsey Ryan and husband Lunden, Logan Hoskinson and wife Kalee, and his cherished great grandchildren, Aela, Iris, Beckham, McCartney, Henley, Emmy, and Evans.

In addition to his parents, his brothers Jerry and Jim Stewart preceded him in death. He is also survived by two sister-in-law's, Penny Stewart of Cumberland, Maryland and Johanna Stewart of Morgantown.

Harold proudly served in the Army Reserve, worked as a superintendent at the former Centurial Products, and later retired from White Electric. He was a dedicated member of Broad Oaks Church where he faithfully served as choir director for many years and then later, United Methodist Temple. He also loved lifting his voice in praise while singing with the Beulah Land Express Gospel Quartet. Harold's faith in the Lord guided his life and was evident in the kindness, warmth, and encouragement he shared with others.

A proud member of the WVU Marching Band, Harold remained a lifelong fan of the Mountaineers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, music, gardening, laughter, and time with his friends.

Above all, Harold treasured times with his family. His legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

David Allen Sandy, 64, of Bridgeport, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, following a brief illness. He was born in Clarksburg on February 18, 1962, a son of the late Charles William Sandy and Anne Francis (Hardbarger) Moats, who survives in Bridgeport.
He is also survived by his daughter, Brandi Lipscomb and her husband Curtis of Grafton; his sister, Lydia Jane Woodward of Bridgeport; two brothers Denzil Sandy and his wife Myra of Stonewood; Bobby Moats of Bridgeport; as well as many nieces and nephews that he enjoyed spending time with.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters Connie Bailey and Brenda Fetty.
David had previously been a cook for several places including area nursing homes. He had also worked construction and his last job, which he had worked at several years, had been as a rest stop attendant.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, drawing, writing and he loved to watch wrestling.
Those who knew him will remember his quiet and generous nature his creativity and his faith in God’s love and kindness.
According to his wishes, no public services will be held.

Randall L. Lipscomb, 73, of Middleville Community, Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday morning, April 29, 2026, in the United Hospital Center. He was born in Grafton on November 27, 1952, a son of the late Edwin Carl and Juanita Grace (Wolfe) Lipscomb.

He is survived by his sisters, Carol Drake and her husband Donald of Jacksonville, FL; Brenda Tucker and her husband Richard of Grafton; and his brother, Gary Lipscomb and his wife Martha of Bridgeport; his nieces, Lisa Farance and her husband Robert of Grafton; Sandra Moyer and her companion Lisa Haddix of Fairmont; Jennifer Drake of Jacksonville, FL; and his nephews, Darren Drake and his wife Anne of Pickerington, OH; Jeff Tucker and his wife Christina of Flemington; Pat Tucker and his wife Beth of Fairmont; and his great-nieces, Ella Drake; Haley Gallo and her husband Joey; Hattie DeFazio and her husband JR; and his great-nephews, Kevin Drake; Jensen Tucker of Pittsburgh and Landon Tucker of Morgantown; and his great-great-niece, Scotlyn Gallo.

Randall was a graduate of Grafton High School, Class of 1970, and attended Free Gospel Bible Institute in Export, PA. for 3 years. He retired as a machinist and inspector from Pratt Whitney after 29 years of service.

He enjoyed flying his remote-controlled airplanes and riding his motorcycle. He also played guitar and sang in a gospel group, and attended various churches in the area.

At the age of 98, Kathleen “Katchie” Brannon passed away April 16, 2026, at Maplewood Healthcare Center.

Born July 22, 1927, in Shinnston, WV, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Albert Hurst Sr. and Lettie Koon Hurst.

Kathleen and her husband Charles E. Brannon were married for 74 years and made their home in Clarksburg. Charlie preceded her in death on December 29, 2017.

She was the beloved mother of Timothy Robert Brannon and his late wife Linda of Clarksburg and Pamela Kay Brannon Critchfield and her husband Chuck of Morgantown. Kathleen was “Grandma” to five grandchildren: Timothy Scott Brannon (Norma), Aimee Danielle Williams (Chris), Jeremy Ryan Brannon (Lacy Bolyard), Leslie Kathleen “Katie” Critchfield Mehle (Jesse), Charles Nathaniel “Nate” Critchfield, and seven great grandchildren: Charles Samuel Brannon, Timothy Andrew Brannon (Zera Miller), Trey Michael Zontek, Jonah Christopher Williams (Alexandra Birkett), Kolby Taylor Williams, Jackson Charles Mehle, and Kathleen Marie Mehle.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers: Belva M. Slusser, Mary Lee Hursey, Albert Hurst Jr., all of Shinnston, Phyllis Colarusso of Fairview Park, OH, and Ronald E. Minor of Bedford, OH.

Katchie was a devoted wife and mother whose life was rooted in care, creativity, and hard work. She found joy in quilting, sewing, baking, and cooking for those she loved. She was also a right-hand “man” to her husband Charlie, working alongside him as he built homes, always painting, patching, staining, or even doing masonry work. Never one to sit still, Katchie was always mending, repurposing, or creating. Her quilts warm the beds of those she loved, and her recipe cards remain in their kitchen cabinets. She passed down her many skills to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, leaving a legacy of traditions and talents that will continue for generations.

A member of First United Methodist Church in Clarksburg, Kathleen enjoyed baking her famous raisin filled cookies for the fall bazaar for many years. Her cookies were always sold out!

Kathleen spent the last 16 months of her life at Maplewood where the nurses and staff provided a kind and caring environment.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Kathleen to Special Olympics West Virginia, 3055 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane, WV 25526, or the Harrison County Humane Society, 2450 Saltwell Road, Shinnston, WV 26431.

A graveside service and interment will take place at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 12 noon at First United Methodist Church in Clarksburg, with Rev. Michael Atkinson officiating. A time of gathering will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
