Chest pain but your coronary arteries look “normal”? ❤️

Sometimes the problem isn’t in the large coronary arteries — it’s in the tiny blood vessels within the heart muscle.

Coronary microvascular dysfunction happens when these small vessels don’t dilate and increase blood flow the way they should, especially during stress. This can cause chest pain, shortness of breath, and other symptoms even when there isn’t a major blockage seen on a traditional coronary angiogram.

Specialized cardiac testing can help us look beyond the large arteries and evaluate how well blood is actually reaching the heart muscle.
