Hey hitters—
Let’s talk about what happens after your at-bat.

Too often I see athletes get frustrated because they didn’t get on… and they completely miss the chance to help the next hitter.

Newsflash: You’re still part of the game, even if you didn’t get on base.

Great hitters aren’t just focused on themselves—they’re focused on the team.
They’re the ones who walk back to the dugout and say:

👉 “She’s mixing speeds a lot—watch for the change.”
👉 “She’s tipping her grip when she throws the rise.”
👉 “Every time she gets ahead, she’s going outside.”
👉 “Her curve has an ‘up’ spin—it’s not breaking like you expect.”

THAT’S what elite hitters do.
They watch. They share. They help their teammates WIN the at-bat.

So the next time you don’t get the result you want, shake it off—and go be the eyes and voice your team needs.

That’s leadership. That’s being a smart hitter. That’s what moves the needle. 🧠⚾️

Let’s Talk Post-Game Meetings, Coaches.

You know that moment right after a game—
when emotions are high, energy is drained, and the temptation to fix everything right there on the spot is very real?

Here’s a different approach that builds confidence, leadership, and growth—not shutdowns and shame.

👉🏽 Step 1: Player-Led Wins
Before you speak, have the players share the wins.
What went well? What are we proud of?
Big or small—give them the mic. You’ll be amazed what they notice when they feel empowered to speak up.

👉🏽 Step 2: Lessons Learned
Failure isn’t a flaw—it’s feedback.
Shift the mindset: “What did we learn today?”
Not “What went wrong?” but “What will make us better?”
Normalize failure as a path forward—not a dead end.

👉🏽 Step 3: The Adjustment Plan
Once lessons are on the table, create a game plan with them.
What skills do we need to work on?
What drills or focuses will help us level up?
This gives failure direction—not defeat.

Coaches: If we’re doing all the talking after games, we’re missing the opportunity to teach leadership, resilience, and ownership.

Hey Coaches, Let’s Be Honest…

We all have a “full-time job on the side.”
You know… the one with the salary and benefits.
The one we’re technically supposed to prioritize. 😅

But let’s be real—coaching is the real full-time job.
The hours, the texts, the late-night lineup changes, the film reviews, the snack orders, the “can we talk?” convos…
Yeah. That’s the actual full-time gig.

And because we’re juggling so much, we’ve got to be intentional.
Intentional with how we plan.
Intentional with how we connect.
Intentional with how we build trust, develop minds, and shape humans—not just athletes.

That means:
✅ Practice plans with purpose
✅ Built-in time for relationship building
✅ Mental training, team bonding, culture touchpoints
✅ Less last-minute scrambling, more confidence in what we’re doing

When we take the time to plan with intention, everything runs smoother.
Players feel more supported.
We feel less stressed.
And we actually get to enjoy this wild, amazing ride called coaching.

Let’s do it on purpose—every day. 💯

TRUST THE PROCESS.

I know, I know… everyone says it.
But let’s actually talk about what that means, especially for softball players like you.

Trusting the process means you keep showing up.
Even when your swing feels off.
Even when you’re not getting the results you want.
Even when you’re wondering if all this hard work is actually doing anything.

Spoiler alert: it is.

The girls who end up confident and consistent?
They didn’t just wake up that way.
They built it through reps, through routines, through those days they didn’t feel like it but still showed up.

Confidence isn’t a switch you flip.
It’s what happens when you know you’ve done the work.
So when game day comes, you’re not hoping for results, you trust yourself because you’ve already earned it.

So yeah, trust the process.
Even when it’s slow.
Even when no one’s watching.
Especially then.

Your future self will thank you for not quitting.

In the rush to build skills, run drills, and prep for game day…
Don’t forget to build connection too.

Because players don’t give you their best because you demand it—
They give you their best because they trust you.

2. 🎧 Ask about their life outside of softball.
3. 💬 Give 1 piece of personal encouragement.

5. 🎯 Share why you believe in them—before you correct them.

Playing Time Isn’t a Mystery—If You Do This First

Coaches—if you’re getting questions about playing time, ask yourself: Did I make the standard clear from the beginning?
Because if there’s no clear standard, then playing time feels like a guessing game to parents and athletes—and that’s where the friction starts.

✔️ Did your athletes know the standard?
✔️ Did your parents hear it straight from you?
✔️ Are YOU holding the line consistently?

Clarity creates alignment. And alignment builds trust.

Coaches, Let’s Get Real for a Second.

We spend hours in the weeds—watching film, studying stats, breaking down the opponent, crafting the “perfect” practice plan.
And don’t get me wrong, that stuff matters.

But you know what really allows us to make the fastest, most meaningful adjustments?
Relationships.
Real, consistent connection with our players.

Because the truth is, we could be missing something—something big.
Maybe a player’s struggling with confidence.
Maybe they’re not understanding a concept, but they’re too afraid to say it.
Maybe they’re carrying something heavy that’s affecting their game.

We can’t always see that in a spreadsheet or during reps.
But we can hear it in a conversation. We can see it in body language.
We can notice it when we truly know our players.

So I’m asking you this—
How much time are you spending building that connection?
Not just coaching the game… but coaching the human.

That’s the difference maker. That’s what changes seasons.

Culture doesn’t start with drills.
It doesn’t start with a lineup card.
It starts with this one question:
👉 Why are you doing this?

Why do you show up early, stay late, pour into these athletes?

Because here’s the truth:
If you don’t know your why, neither will your team.

It gave me the tools I still use to this day—not just in sports, but in life.

Parents Aren’t the Enemy

I’ve worked with a lot of travel organizations—and coached through the good, the bad, and the “what just happened?”
And here’s one truth I’ve learned:

Parents are not the problem. Lack of communication is.

Most parents just want to understand the why. And when you give it to them clearly, respectfully, and consistently, they become your biggest allies.

When’s the last time you invited parents into the process?
Not to make decisions—but to understand the expectations?

You can’t expect support from people you don’t bring to the table.
