This National First Responders Day, we’re sharing a recent video from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office highlighting its commitment to employee mental wellness through eTMS.

Since introducing the program in October 2025, MDSO reports that participating personnel have experienced improvements in mental well-being and sleep quality.

You don't need the perfect words to check in.

If a colleague seems quieter than usual or has had a difficult shift, find a private moment and ask, “How are you doing?”

Listen without rushing to solve it. You can offer to sit with them, help find a resource, or check in again another day. Let them decide what they want to share.

Sleep is often the first thing to go. That's why we measure it from day one.

Across JLC's state-funded eTMS programs, average insomnia severity scores dropped 59.7% from the first to the latest assessment (ISI).

A look back at our FOX 28 feature from April 2026.

Retired Assistant Fire Chief K.J. Watts and JLC’s Tasha Noice joined the news team to explain eTMS and demonstrate what treatment looks like.

“Trust the process.”

It is Fire Prevention Week. Firefighters spend their careers protecting everyone else. Their own sleep and mental health matter too.

K.J. Watts, now retired from the Whitehall Division of Fire, entered the eTMS program with questions and skepticism. He says he began sleeping better, experiencing less mental chatter, and feeling a greater sense of calm. His wife noticed a difference, too.

For K.J., those changes carried into everyday life: thinking more clearly, responding more calmly as a leader, and feeling better equipped to support the people who depend on him.

Firefighters and first responders train to protect others every day. But the stress of the job doesn’t always stay at work.

Changes in sleep, anxiety, low mood, and the effects of trauma deserve support, too.

Through the eTMS Program, eligible veterans, first responders, and law enforcement professionals may have access to brain-health care at no cost.

This Mental Illness Awareness Week, we’re sharing information to help make brain health care easier to understand.

What does the “EEG-guided” part of eTMS mean?

In this video, Dr. Kim explains how an EEG—a recording of the brain’s electrical activity—helps inform a personalized protocol for non-invasive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.

She walks through three steps: measuring brain activity, using that information to guide stimulation, and working toward more coordinated brain activity.

Dr. Kim also discusses changes observed in focus, sleep, and emotional regulation. Individual experiences and treatment outcomes vary.
