🎨🧩 What an incredible Friday at Stairway to Recovery! 🧩🎨
When we say this event was something special, we truly mean it. On Friday, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming David and his amazing wife, Paloma, from United Communities / TKD United to STR for an unforgettable Create & Learn experience...and what an experience it was!
From the moment people walked through the doors, every single participant was met with the utmost compassion, kindness, and respect. David, Paloma, and their team created a space where everyone felt welcomed, supported, and safe to simply be themselves.
We were thrilled to have not only our incredible STR members join us, but also some of our friends from the Taunton Peer Recovery Center, who came down to be part of the fun and fellowship. Seeing recovery communities come together like this is what it’s all about. 💙
And let’s talk about the generosity for a minute…
David and Paloma came bearing clothing donations for anyone in need, making sure support extended far beyond the event itself. They also brought what may officially be the best doughnuts known to mankind from The Doughnut King in Weymouth 🍩 (seriously… we’re still talking about them!).
As if that wasn’t enough, David treated everyone to an amazing lunch spread from North End Market & Deli with subs, pizza, chicken, broccoli alfredo, and so much more....there truly was something for everyone.
The room was filled with music, laughter, creativity, and connection. Participants colored using paint, crayons, markers, colored pencils... if you can think of it, United Communities / TKD United brought it! We even had Legos, which sparked a wave of nostalgia and brought out smiles in people of all ages.
But beyond the fun, something deeper happened.
Some participants opened up and shared deeply personal experiences. For some, it was the first time ever sharing parts of their story. Watching David and his team create an environment where people battling substance use disorder and mental health challenges felt comfortable enough to speak, reflect, and connect was truly powerful.
That kind of space doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when people feel safe, heard, respected, and free from judgment and together, STR and United Communities created exactly that.
To David, Paloma, and the entire United Communities / TKD United team: thank you for your compassion, generosity, and for reminding us all of the healing that can happen when people come together in community.
Recovery is connection. Recovery is community. Recovery is hope. ❤️
