For every patient (and there are a lot of them) who says, "I just feel like I need someone to pull my spine apart"... I've got just the thing.
Research suggests decompression is most often helpful for:
* Contained disc protrusions
* Chronic low back tension or pain
* Disc bulges with or without mild to moderate nerve root compression (often causing sciatica or leg pain/numbness from the low back)
Featuring a "pull-pull-release" mechanism, our spinal decompression table applies traction in cycles instead of pulling continuously.
Here's how it works:
1. First pull: The table gently increases traction, separating the vertebrae and reducing pressure on the discs and nerve roots.
2. Second pull: Rather than stopping at the first level, the machine increases the strength of the pull a little more. This second phase helps further elongate the spine and can create a greater reduction in pressure within the disc.
3. Release: The tension decreases-but it doesn't go all the way to zero. The spine is allowed to relax while maintaining some baseline traction before the next cycle begins.
•The pattern of traction is used to reduce muscle guarding because the muscles aren't fighting against one continuous pull.
•The alternating forces create a
"pumping" effect, which separates the vertebrae (by approx 1–3 mm) while the pressure on the disc decreases.
This has truly become one of my favorite therapies and many patients', too. Schedule at the link in bio to see if spinal decompression is a therapy you could utilize for low back pain!
