Dr. Flores earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from Drury University, where she was also a pitcher on the university's softball team. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry, graduating summa cm laude in 2025.

Have you noticed flashes of light or small floating spots in your vision?🌈

Flashes and floaters are common visual symptoms, especially as we age. In many cases, they are caused by natural changes in the vitreous, the gel-like substance that fills the inside of the eye.

While occasional floaters are often harmless, a sudden increase in flashes or floaters should never be ignored. These symptoms can sometimes indicate a retinal tear or retinal detachment, which requires prompt evaluation to help preserve vision.

🚨Seek immediate eye care if you experience:
• A sudden shower of new floaters
• Frequent flashes of light
• A dark curtain or shadow moving across your vision
• Sudden loss of peripheral or central vision

Early diagnosis and treatment are critical. If you're ever unsure whether your symptoms are urgent, it's always safest to have your eyes examined as soon as possible.

Originally from Arkansas, Dr. Wyrick earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas before receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2019. Throughout her education, she demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to the profession, earning induction into the prestigious Gold Key Society.

Don't Clean Your Glasses With Your Shirt 🤓

👕 It might seem harmless, but your shirt could be scratching your lenses.

Even if your lenses have a scratch-resistant coating, clothing fibers can trap tiny particles of dust and dirt. Wiping your glasses while they're dry can create fine scratches over time, reducing clarity and increasing glare, especially when driving at night.

Instead:
✅ Rinse your lenses with lukewarm water first.
✅ Use lens cleaner made for eyewear.
✅ Dry with a clean microfiber cloth.

A few extra seconds can help keep your lenses clearer and last longer.

Meet Dr. Shea Schmidt!👩‍⚕️

Dr. Shea's journey into optometry began long before optometry school. Growing up in Kansas, she worked as an ophthalmic technician for several years, where she discovered a passion for helping people see clearly and fell in love with all things eye care.

She and her husband, Carlos, moved to Oklahoma so she could attend Northeastern State University College of Optometry. During that time, they fell in love with Tulsa and decided to make it their permanent home.

After graduation, Dr. Shea began her career in a pediatric ophthalmology practice, caring for children with complex eye conditions. That experience strengthened her passion for working with children and caring for patients with neurological and developmental vision concerns.

Today, she enjoys seeing patients of all ages, from newborns to adults, and is dedicated to making every patient feel comfortable, heard, and well cared for.

Have you ever noticed one eye seems clearer than the other?👁️

You're not imagining it.

Many people assume both eyes change at the same rate, but that's rarely the case. Each eye can change independently over time, so one prescription may become stronger while the other changes very little or not at all.

This can happen naturally with age, because of differences in how each eye focuses, or due to certain eye conditions.

That's why it's important not to rely on how you "think" your vision is doing. A comprehensive eye exam measures each eye individually, ensuring your prescription is accurate and your eyes are healthy.

If one eye seems to be doing more of the work, it may be time for an eye exam.

Meet Dr. Brittany. 👩‍⚕️🤓

Originally from Iowa, Dr. Brittany came to Oklahoma for optometry school, and quickly realized this was where she wanted to build both her career and her family.

In 2022, she founded RoseRock Eyecare with one goal: to create a practice where patients feel known, heard, and cared for.

She enjoys fitting specialty contact lenses, has a passion for helping patients with low vision, and is always looking for new ways to expand the services RoseRock can offer our communities.

When she's not caring for patients, Dr. Brittany enjoys spending time with her husband, Ben, and their three children. Family is at the heart of everything she does, both at home and at RoseRock Eyecare.
