We're often asked when someone should come back into see their therapist once they've stopped therapy.

You know the physical pain scale at your doctor's office? We can use a similar scale for emotional-mental health.

It's not human to spend all your time in just one emotional range, that's usually a sign that something is "stuck" or on it's way to becoming a bigger issue. We also don't want severe emotional fluctuations where you're on extreme highs and lows frequently without spending much time in the "neutral" places. Mild to moderate emotional fluctuation is normal.

It's ALWAYS OK to reach out to your therapist to simply ask if what you're experiencing seems within a healthy range.

It's ALWAYS OK to come in for Check-Up to see what's going on.

Doing your own self-assessments can help you keep an eye on when things feel "stuck" or when the fluctuations are feeling too big (like tidal waves instead of gentle emotional waves).

We're when you need us. http://goodhumanwork.com

If you're a parent or around children and teenagers, remember they're watching you. Kids "do what we do, not what we say".

The way you respect YOURSELF talk to yourself, and care for yourself will become the way they do it.

The way you treat OTHERS, talk to others, and care for others will become the way they do it.

We don't have to be perfect. That's impossible. All we have to do is try.

Try to trust and respect ourselves. Try to trust and respect others. Try to trust and respect our children.

What matters is the effort we put in along the way, how we model becoming a better human day after day.

Do good human work, one day at a time, and it will pay off.

We believe in being real, and honest, about life and therapy topics.

This sh*t is hard. Being a good human is ridiculously hard. Making time for healthy things is incredibly hard. Doing it alone is even more difficult.

It's also worth it. Which is why we do it. We strive to do good.human.work for a reason.

It makes us better. It makes our relationships better. It makes us happier and gives us a healthier perspective on our priorities.

Remind yourself to do the things that make you feel more human, more alive, more connected to other humans in healthy ways. And find people who support you in that effort - friends, family, and your therapist.

It's Mental Health Awareness Month. Just like physical health, our mental health is always fluctuating based on how well we take care of it.

Do a self-assessment to keep an eye on how you've been lately. You can check in on your level of stress, overwhelm, joy, peacefulness, loneliness, and connection to others. While these are always changing and that's normal, check out patterns over time. Have you had a lot of stress and loneliness for several weeks with little joy or peacefulness? Look for patterns that balance across all our human emotions and experiences.

And if you don't have one, now's a great time to find a licensed therapist who's a good fit for you.

Then you can easily return to therapy anytime you need to, just like having a regular doctor you see for check ups and as needed.

It shouldn't be so hard to access a great therapist. Our goal is to create easier access for therapy, so you and the people you care about don't have to struggle while waiting around.

We have a couple of therapists with open availability as early as next week!

If your insurance benefits are with The Alliance, you can start seeing a highly-skilled, licensed therapist right away either virtually or in-person at our Milwaukee and Minneapolis offices.

We can collectively increase access to therapy. Please share this info with your people if it can be helpful.

At the core of all humanity is the need for secure, healthy attachment to others. That's what's built into our survival mechanisms.

Humans are hardwired for CONNECTION.

Because of this, all humans have the need for love.

Society re-programs us when we're young to believe all sorts of things about ourselves and others, most of which are not based in fact and science.

There's a lot of info flying around the internet these days that will try to convince you it's based in data and truth, when it's simply bias wrapped into an attractive package. Don't be fooled.

Men, just like all humans, need love, emotional connection, and to allow their full humanity to not be extinguished.
