Did You Know?

One of the most meaningful flags collected during our recent flag retirement drive was a historic 48-star American flag.

The 48-star flag served as our nation's official flag from 1912 to 1959, representing the United States before Alaska and Hawaii joined the Union. It flew during some of the most significant moments in American history, including both World Wars and the early years of the post-war era.

To hold a flag like this is to hold a piece of history. Every star, stripe, and fold represents generations of Americans who lived, worked, served, and sacrificed under its banner.

As we conclude our flag collection drive, we are honored that community members entrusted us with flags that carry such deep personal and historical significance. This 48-star flag serves as a powerful reminder that the American flag is more than a symbol: it is a reflection of the stories, service, and heritage that connect us all.

These meaningful reminders help us feel connected to the people we love, even after they're gone.
