More information about the free upcoming webinar provided by Midwest Street Medicine below 👇

Midwest Street Medicine will host “Alcohol: The Most Overlooked Substance in Behavioral Health,” a professional training focused on increasing awareness, improving early identification, and expanding evidence-based responses to alcohol use disorder.

The webinar will be presented by Dr. Shannon Emry and Dr. Melissa “Mo” Dittberner, co-founders of Midwest Street Medicine, who bring expertise in healthcare delivery, addiction, recovery, harm reduction, and working with vulnerable populations.

Although alcohol is one of the most commonly used substances, its impact on physical health, mental health, families, healthcare systems, and communities is often underestimated. This session will explore why alcohol deserves greater attention across behavioral health, medical, and justice settings.

Participants will learn about:

* The neurobiology of alcohol use disorder and its impact on the brain
* Early identification strategies that reduce long-term health and system burden
* Screening tools for primary care, behavioral health, and court settings
* Medications for Alcohol Use Disorder (MAUD) and expanding treatment options
* The connection between alcohol use, sleep disruption, and relapse risk
* Brief interventions that reduce harm and support recovery

This training is designed for healthcare providers, behavioral health professionals, court teams, peer specialists, community organizations, students, and anyone working with individuals impacted by substance use.

Through education, outreach, and systems collaboration, Midwest Street Medicine continues to advance compassionate, evidence-informed approaches that meet people where they are and create pathways to care and recovery.

*Date: July 14
*Time: 12:00 PM CST
*Location: Virtual
