Tribute: Ruby (Sept 2012 - October 2026) โค๏ธ
From the moment I held her at 7 weeks old, Ruby was my first pet โ but she wasnโt just a pet. She was everything to me.
Ruby came into my life at a difficult time. My brother Jeff, one year younger, had recently passed; for years, a part of me felt empty. My parents thought Ruby would help โ but she did more than that. For 14 years, Ruby brought me indescribable joy. She gave me everything. She changed my life. I like to believe I did the same for her.
I was traveling a lot for work when I got Ruby. I thought having her would help me anchor down. It turns out traveling was Rubyโs favorite thing. She took her first flight when she was barely two months old, first road trip when she was one. She even had her own IG at a time ().
Rubyโs favorite place was the beach. For over a decade, we visited Mexico several times a year, along with my friends she had grown up with. Her best friend and dogsitter for 10 years โ Jason, who passed earlier this year โ took care of Ruby when I had to go overseas. When I returned, Ruby was eager for her next adventure.
Our destination wasnโt always the beach. We traveled to deserts and mountains and cities and forests too, but her happy place was always with me โ and with my family, who she was able to see last week, one last time.
Ruby passed peacefully in my arms this past weekend. She rested her head against my shoulder, as she had done for 14 years. She was not afraid; she was with me. I believe thatโs all that mattered to her.
I know my brother Jeff and Jason will take care of her now.
Thank you to everyone for all your kind and encouraging messages the past few years. The love and compassion you sent as Rubyโs health declined meant the world to me โ and to Ruby. You have no idea how much you have helped.
I hope yโall have been staying strong through any challenging experiences with the astrological weather. You got this. You have your people looking over you, too.
Iโll be taking some time off. Thank you so much for understanding. There are some automated emails you might receive that were written last week, but Iโll be back soon to be with you, and to do your forecasts.
Thank you so so so much.
