We are happy to partner with ExpandED Schools () to bring their Lit C.R.E.W. initiative to our youth participants. This program is designed to enhance literacy engagement and skill development.

Last week, a group of our middle schoolers took home the trophy for "Best Movement and Prose" at this year's Live Project Awards hosted by ExpandED. They performed a dance titled "The Messengers", from their fall show "City of Ember" based on a book they read for the LIT C.R.E.W. program. Our CFL programs love the to combine literacy development with creative performance!

Today Center for Family Life joined UNH (), Council Member Aviles (), and other community partners to rally for NYCBenefits.

The program provides vital assistance to tens of thousands of New Yorkers accessing food, housing, and healthcare benefits.

We are calling on Mayor Mamdani (Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani) and other elected officials to ensure the funding for NYCBenefits is secured so we can continue to provide these essential services.

Our college access program is designed to help current high schoolers and recent graduates navigate the challenges they face when selecting, applying to, financing, and transitioning to college, especially for first-generation college-goers.

Thanks to the generous support of our partners, and the addition of new college counselors to the Sunset Park High School () and CFL teams, we have been able to significantly expand this program.

CFL's Executive Director Julia Jean-Francois, recently spoke to The City Reporter () about the threat to NYCBenefits, a program that helps providers like us connect low-income community members with essential benefits.

Since last July through the end of March alone, NYCBenefits providers have helped 28,000 New Yorkers apply for benefits.

The program was not earmarked in the latest FY27 city budget proposal, if it loses funding, tens of thousands of New Yorkers will lose targeted benefits assistance and over 400 nonprofit staff will be impacted.

Wow! What an amazing performance put on by the "Life Lines" Community Arts Project! 🌟🌟🌟

"The Show Must Go On" was completely devised and performed by our youth participants, with song, comedy, and dance staged in front of the gorgeous set design. We learned from the show that when you are surrounded by a passionate community, you can do anything you put your mind to!

Congratulations to all of the staff and participants involved, and thank you to everyone who filled the crowd with laughter and applause!

We were thrilled to host members of the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (), the Office of Financial Empowerment, and Cities for Financial Empowerment!

The visit was a great opportunity to share more about our programs and discuss the ways we can all collaborate to empower individuals in Sunset Park and beyond.
