Maimonides Health hosted a health screening at the Maimonides Doctors Multispecialty Pavilion and we had a very special guest join us. Lauren and her therapy dog Wave from the Good Dog Foundation stopped by to bring some extra comfort, calm, and joy to the day.

Because great healthcare isn't just about numbers and vitals, it's about how you feel walking in and walking out.

Earlier this year, we welcomed the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to our campus for a public engagement event focused on the Interborough Express (IBX) Project, a transformative light rail initiative planned for the 2030s that will connect underserved communities across Brooklyn and Queens.

Nearly 150 community members joined the workshops, sharing feedback on station design, train aesthetics, and rider experience helping shape a transit project that could significantly reduce travel times and expand economic opportunity for our neighbors across both boroughs.

On May 13, Maimonides Medical Center celebrated the researchers, clinicians, and innovators who make our institution a place of discovery and excellence at the 2026 Evening of Research.

This year's Austin A. Schlecker Academic Achievement Award was presented to Dr. Jacob Shani, Chair of the Heart & Vascular Center and one of the most decorated interventional cardiologists in the world. Over the course of his distinguished career, Dr. Shani has performed the first atherectomy in New York State, invented cardiac catheterization devices, performed the first percutaneous transmyocardial revascularization in New York State, and has been among the first globally to perform interventions in cardiogenic shock.

Maimonides Health was proud to partner with Center for Family Life for a community health fair at PS 503/506 bringing free blood pressure screenings right to the school community.

Events like this are what neighborhood-rooted care looks like in action: meeting families where they are, removing barriers, and making sure every child and adult in our Brooklyn community has access to the health resources they need.
