And we had a birthday! This is Imona. She is a newly diagnosed oncology patient. She was diagnosed with leukemia a few weeks ago and has been stuck in the hospital ever since. And we tried to make it as special as possible. She was so excited to receive her Little Wishes gifts, eat cupcakes, and pizza.

Congratulations to Dr. Fabienne Gaillard Ulysse, a 2026 Brooklyn Power Woman!

Dr. Ulysse, our Assistant Vice President of Nursing Education and Research, was honored at Schneps Media's Power Women of Brooklyn event, which recognized nearly 40 of the borough's most influential women, from healthcare leaders to entrepreneurs, educators, and community advocates.

Dr. Ulysse is a champion for nurses and for the Brooklyn communities she serves, and we're so proud to call her one of our own.

Maimonides Medical Center is proud to partner with during their "We The People" September Fund Drive to support our Division of Blood Transfusion Medicine and Donor Services.

According to the American Red Cross and the American Hospital Association, nearly 16 million blood components are transfused each year in the U.S., saving the lives of over 4.5 million people. Maimonides is one of only a select few institutions in New York with a hospital Blood Donor Center and Transfusion Services under one roof, a distinction reflecting more than 100 years of service to the Brooklyn community.

WBGO's Doug Doyle spoke with Dr. Martin Bluth, Chief of Blood Transfusion and Donor Services, Dr. Jeff Nicastro, Vice Chair of Surgery/Trauma Surgery, and Victoria Reesman, Oncology Nurse Specialist for Hematology and Oncology, about the impact of how donating the Gift of Life has on them and their patients as well as the general Maimonides - community relationship.
