Happy Juneteenth from PPGNY! As sexual and reproductive advocates, understanding Juneteenth is essential to our work. The Repro Justice movement was born in response to disparities in sexual and reproductive health and maternal outcomes that disproportionately harm intersecting Black, q***r, and disabled communities — denying many the freedom to have children, not have children, raise families in safe and sustainable communities, and exercise bodily autonomy under systemic oppressions. These injustices, past and present, remind us of our commitment to protect and advance the rights and dignity of our most marginalized patients and community members.

This month and every month, PPGNY & PPGNY Action Fund continue to protect and defend bodily autonomy and sexual/repro health equity for our LGBTQ+ patients and community members. The history of Pride is rooted in the fight for dignity and respect, safety and love. Every person, no matter their identity, deserves to be their authentic self -- in public settings, at work, in medical spaces, at home...everywhere.

While mifepristone access returns to where it was on Friday morning, the whiplash and chaos that patients and providers are navigating has already had real consequences for real peoples’ lives and futures. ⚠️PPGNY will continue to provide telehealth abortion care without interruption using legal, safe, and effective medications.⚠️

Yesterday's breaking news about a federal appeals court blocking access to Mifepristone via telehealth is appalling and rooted in anti-abortion politics, not health care. Restricting the mailing of Mifepristone disproportionately harms those in rural communities, individuals with low income, and those living in states with existing bans. PPGNY anticipated attacks on access to abortion care like these, and we are prepared.
