Dr. Edward Angle first published his classification of malocclusion in 1899, and orthodontics has changed almost beyond recognition since — yet the system remains the most efficient shorthand between clinicians, labs, and insurers over a century later. Class I, II, and III still tell you where the molars sit before any imaging loads. What has changed is how quickly we can act on the diagnosis: bracket geometry, wire alloys, and Class II correctors that were unimaginable in Angle's time now compress treatment windows without compromising outcomes. It is a useful reminder that the fundamentals age well, and the technology around them is what each new generation has to earn. We built The American Angle on that same premise.
