Mercy Home is proud to recognize our Executive Director, Janice M. Aris, who serves as Second Vice President of the InterAgency Council of Developmental Disabilities Agencies (IAC), for her participation in IAC’s 2026 two-day Board Retreat.

The retreat featured a keynote address by New York State Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages (District 22), who shared valuable insights on advancing advocacy efforts in Albany, with a focus on workforce development, financial investment, education, and strengthening collaboration with state government.

As we look ahead, Mercy Home remains committed to working alongside our partners to champion policies, resources, and opportunities that enhance the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Celebrating Inclusion, Opportunity & Achievement

Mercy Home for Children is honored to have been recognized by Goodwill NYNJ during National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) Celebration on Tuesday, October 6.

Our Executive Director, Janice M. Aris, proudly attended the ceremony and accepted the award on behalf of the entire Mercy Home community.

This recognition is especially meaningful as we join Goodwill NYNJ in celebrating the accomplishments of people with disabilities and the organizations committed to creating diverse, inclusive, and equitable opportunities. At Mercy Home, we believe that every person deserves the opportunity to contribute their talents, pursue their goals, and be fully included in the communities where they live and work.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Goodwill NYNJ for this recognition and for its continued commitment to advancing disability inclusion.

As the fall season kicks into full swing, we are also heading into another budget year, meaning it is more important now than ever to understand what the intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) system needs.

This year, we are calling for a 3.4% Targeted Inflationary Increase, a CareForce Wage Investment, and the restoration of the Healthcare Enhancement Program.

Together, these investments will help providers retain skilled staff, keep up with rising costs and health care expenses, and ensure that people with I/DD can continue to receive the services and supports they rely on.
