Tonight The BRO Space was everything. Real brothers. Real questions. Real solutions.

When our young men ask about fatherhood, health, and protecting their hearts—and when medical professionals show up to answer—that’s movement. That’s healing. That’s what we’re building.

Shout out to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital for being true partners in this work. Free haircuts weren’t just about looking fresh. They were about saying: your whole self matters—mental, physical, emotional. 🙌

“What’s Up Doc?” is monthly now. Because men of color deserve healthcare that’s accessible, affirming, and rooted in our communities.

That’s The BRO Project. For 9 to 12 months, we walk with young men of color in Brooklyn through weekly mentorship circles, CBT-informed workshops, and community-based experiences that build emotional health, resilience, and leadership.

When too many young men are expected to carry everything alone, we build spaces where support, brotherhood, and growth are part of the journey.

About the Extraordinary Men Awards:
For five years, The B.R.O. Experience Foundation has celebrated the resilience, character, and leadership of young men of color across New York City. This year's theme—GRIT, GRACE & GROWTH—captures the essence of the movement: the courage to persevere, the dignity to rise with character, and the commitment to evolving into the best versions of ourselves.

With Marlon as our host, we're bringing together community leaders, supporters, mentors, and the young men themselves for an unforgettable night of recognition, inspiration, and real change.

When community shows up, growth gets real.

A 2024 study in the Journal of Community Psychology found that people engaged in supportive community networks report a 32% higher rate of achieving personal development goals. We see that same truth every day: personal growth is not a solo journey, it flourishes when you have people around you who uplift, challenge, and support you.

As Dr. Emily Carter put it, “Personal growth is not a solitary endeavor; it flourishes in environments where encouragement, shared experiences, and collective wisdom are present.”

We brought together National Grid US National Grid Foundation, 8BALL Basketball 8Ball Basketball , and our B.R.O. fam to make sure every young man started this school year equipped—and reminded that he matters.

It wasn’t just backpacks (though those teal ones hit different 🎒). It was dads, mentors, and leaders standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our youth saying:

“We see you. We believe in you. We’re here.”

That’s the real toolkit.

Big gratitude to our partners who get it—that opportunity isn’t just about resources, it’s about presence, belief, and community.

Because the young men we serve deserve more than supplies. They deserve to know they belong. 💙
