Coherent breathing is everywhere right now.
The basic idea is slow breathing at about 5 to 6 breaths per minute. It can help calm the nervous system, improve recovery, and make your body feel less stuck in stress mode.
But there is a mechanical side people rarely mention.
If your ribcage cannot expand well, your diaphragm has to work against stiffness. If your thoracic spine is locked up, the breath gets shallow no matter how good the technique is.
That is why breathwork can feel easy for one person and frustrating for another. It is not always a mindset problem. Sometimes the ribcage and upper back are simply not moving enough.
