This week we are featuring Dr. Terri Readdy!

Dr. Terri Readdy, our relief veterinarian since 2015 and has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Tampa Bay area since 1999. She loves being a general practitioner, particularly medicine & behavior, from pediatrics to geriatrics in most pet species (including dogs, cats, birds reptiles & small mammal pocket pets). She is a member of AVMA, AAV, AEMV. Prior to becoming a veterinarian,
Terri grew up in Syracuse before starting a slow migration south. She spent 9 years as a research scientist in the field of biotechnology after graduating from RIT with publications ranging from cloning corn to investigating flesh eating bacteria. She is married and currently has two dogs.

We will be featuring our doctors starting with Dr. Deborah Rodriguez.

Dr. Rodriguez graduated from Michigan State University in 1987. She moved to Florida in 1991 for the weather! She remembers wanting to be a veterinarian since she was 5 years old! She purchased Animal Health in 2007 and remains an independent owner not to be dictated by corporate interests. Her special interests are surgery, ultrasound and dental procedures. For her it has remained of utmost importance to retain excellent doctors (Dr. Collazos and Dr. Readdy) and staff who really care about the patient and their owners! When she is not at the clinic she spends time with her human family, chihuahuas, horses, cats and silkie chickens. She also enjoys spending time on the road on her motorcycle and time boating on the Hernando flats.

As the weather gets warmer, remember that pavement and sidewalks heat up too.

Asphalt and cement can become significantly hotter than the outdoor temperature and may burn your pet’s paws.

A quick way to check before your walk: Place your hand flat on the ground for 7 seconds. If it feels too hot for you, it’s too hot for them.

🌟 Staff Highlight: Shelley 🌟

Shelley joined our team in January 2024. She arrives each morning with a smiling face and a positive outlook that brings joy to all of her teammates! You’ll most often find her working alongside Dr. Collazos, but she also assists the other doctors throughout the day.

From the moment Shelley arrives, she’s always on the move—processing laboratory samples, assisting in surgery, and helping wherever she’s needed to make sure our patients receive the best care possible. 🐾

When she’s not at work caring for patients, Shelley enjoys spending time with her two dogs—Max, her German Shepherd, and Jasmine, a rescue Rottweiler. She also loves making memories with her family while riding dirt bikes and motorcycles, boating, and fishing.

We’re so grateful to have Shelley on our team and truly appreciate the kindness, energy, and dedication she brings every day! 💙
