Get to know Grant Starey, FNP, the provider caring for our Brownwood patients!

Grant enjoys the variety of family medicine and caring for patients through both acute and ongoing health needs. He believes in looking at the whole patient, building lasting relationships, and helping people understand and take an active role in their health.

Outside the clinic, Grant enjoys the outdoors and family time. Fun fact: while attending ACU, he helped create two student films that received multiple FilmFest awards!

Summer may be over, but the Texas heat didn’t get the memo.

August can still bring seriously hot days, so don’t let hydration fall off your radar. Whether you’re working outside, heading to practice, exercising, running errands, or enjoying time outdoors, drink water regularly and take breaks from the heat.

Thirst, headache, fatigue, dizziness, dry mouth, and darker urine can be signs that your body needs more fluids. Keep water nearby and remember to check in on children and older adults, too.

School is back in session—is their medication ready?

With classes, practices, and activities back in full swing, parents and caregivers should take a moment to check their child’s medications. Make sure prescriptions are current, medications aren’t expired, and the school has any necessary forms or instructions.

For inhalers, EpiPens, and other emergency medications, confirm they’re accessible and that appropriate school staff know about them. A quick check now can help keep your child prepared throughout the school year.

Tanning... or toasting? ☀️🥵

A summer glow is one thing, but painful redness, blistering, dizziness, dehydration, or heat-related symptoms are another.

If you've spent a little too much time in the Texas sun, Z-2-H can evaluate and treat non-life-threatening sunburns, heat exhaustion, dehydration, and other sun-related conditions, helping you recover safely and get back to enjoying your summer. Walk-ins are welcome, and same-day appointments are available.

If you're experiencing confusion, fainting, difficulty breathing, seizures, a very high body temperature, or other signs of a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.
