As I read the section on psychology in the book, “The Seat of the Soul,” by Gary Zukav:
“…The conscious path to authentic power requires recognition of the non-physical dimensions of the human being, of the soul, and growing knowledge of what the soul is and what it wants.” …
I am taken to the quote that I have in the signature of my email noting the findings of a study on “Childbirth as a Rite of Passage,” which suggest that “women’s experiences during physiological birth are multidimensional and not aligned with biomedical descriptions of physically defined stages of labor.”
Gary Zukav’s words on spiritual psychology make the point that psychology needs to expand to include a language of the spirit.
Again, “The conscious path to authentic power requires recognition of the no physical dimensions of the human being… .”
Similarly, Birth deserves reverence of the spiritual process that is so obviously taking place, within mother AND babe. Science needs to catch up to expand language beyond the stages and phases of labor to include the importance of the intuition in labor and the health of the soul.
All this leads me to say: birth is a journey, and it deserves preparation, study, reverence. You can dive into your parasympathetic nervous system, practice self-reflection, observe your thresholds shift as you navigate the growing challenges of pregnancy, ultimately preparing you for the labor to come. Let Go. Stand in your power as you ride the wave. Let it wash over you. Let go.
What do you think you know about Childbirth? Hint: It’s outside of the labyrinth.
How can you truly prepare for the journey of birth?
