I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is something so strange about working in a profession where the ultimate goal is for the people you grow to care so much about to not need to come see you anymore.
Today was one of those very bittersweet days as this amazing boy officially graduated from speech therapy!
These two videos are from October 2025 and today, his very last session. Seeing them side by side makes me a little emotional. We started with limited expressive language and spent so much time building words, putting words together, and helping him communicate more of what he wanted to say. Today, he is independently using phrases and sentences to share his thoughts, wants, ideas, and of course, his personality!
For the past year and a half, his family has been right there alongside him. Part of every session, learning, practicing, celebrating, and helping carry everything we worked on into everyday life. His progress is his own, but having a family so involved in the process has been such an important part of getting him here.
And he truly is just the sweetest boy. I have loved watching his language grow, but even more than that, I’ve loved getting to know more and more of him as he has been able to share it with us.
Going from limited words to hearing all of those independent phrases, sentences, thoughts, and ideas is pretty amazing.
This is exactly what we worked toward from the beginning. So incredibly proud of you, buddy (and Mom)!
You found your voice, and it has been such a privilege to watch you learn to use it. 🎓🗣️❤️
