September is a good reminder to stay on top of your health. ❤️

Dr. Charis Durham recently spoke with KBTX about the importance of cancer screenings, paying attention to unexplained symptoms, and talking with your doctor about what screenings are right for you.

There isn’t always one obvious warning sign when it comes to cancer, which makes regular checkups and open conversations with your healthcare providers so important.

Take a few minutes this month to check in with your doctor and make sure you’re up to date. Early detection can make a difference.

Read the full story from KBTX below. 👇

September is cancer awareness month for several cancer types and doctors are renewing calls for regular checkups and screenings.

✨ Core Value Spotlight: Collaboration

As we wrap up our Core Value Spotlight series, we're highlighting a value that's at the center of everything we do: Collaboration.

The best care happens when we work together. At Brazos Valley Cancer Center, collaboration means partnering with our patients and their families, communicating closely with referring physicians, hospitals, and specialists, and supporting one another as a team.

Every person involved in a patient's care plays an important role. By sharing knowledge, listening to one another, and working toward the same goal, we're able to provide coordinated, compassionate care that's focused on what matters most—our patients.

💬 If someone could only remember one health tip from you, what would it be?

Kacie's advice is simple but so important:

Listen to your body. Don’t wait to report side effects during cancer treatment.

Many side effects and symptoms are easier to manage when they’re addressed early. If something doesn’t feel right, let your healthcare team know. No concern is too small to bring up.

Open communication with your care team is an important part of your treatment.

❤️ Speak up. Ask questions. And remember, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

✨ Core Value Spotlight: Continuous Improvement

As we continue our Core Value Spotlight series, we're highlighting a value that reminds us there's always an opportunity to grow: Continuous Improvement.

At Brazos Valley Cancer Center, we're committed to continually improving the care we provide. That means staying current with advances in cancer treatment, looking for better ways to serve our patients, and always asking how we can make their experience even better.

As medicine evolves, so do we. Our commitment is to keep learning, keep growing, and keep providing the compassionate, high-quality care our patients deserve.

Follow along as we continue to spotlight the values that guide everything we do.

Pam and Vicki both recently made a meaningful change—cutting their hair to help provide wigs for people experiencing hair loss during cancer treatment. 💕

We love seeing the compassion our team brings to their work and the ways they care for others beyond the walls of our clinic.

Way to go, Pam and Vicki! We’re proud to have you on our team. 🩷

We asked Dr. Fleener: “What’s one piece of advice you’d give someone newly diagnosed with cancer?”

Her answer?

“Surround yourself with a team you trust.”

A cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of questions, uncertainty, and emotions. Having a care team you feel comfortable with—people you can ask questions, talk openly with, and trust to guide you through treatment—can make a big difference.

You don’t have to navigate it alone.

At Brazos Valley Cancer Center, we believe cancer care is about more than treating the disease. It’s about getting to know you, listening to your concerns, and being there for you throughout your journey.

Find a team you trust. Ask questions. And remember—you don’t have to go through this alone.

We care about you.

Our provider teams are pretty awesome. ❤️

Rae and Danni help handle all things on the Floyd team and keep everything running smoothly. And of course, we had to have Ellain jump in for the photo! 😉

We’re lucky to have such a great team taking care of our patients every day. 🩷

✨ Core Value Spotlight: Hopeful & Optimistic

As we continue our Core Value Spotlight series, we're highlighting a value that helps guide every interaction we have with our patients: Hopeful & Optimistic.

A cancer diagnosis can bring uncertainty, but it can also bring moments of strength, resilience, and hope. We believe in encouraging our patients through every step of their journey—celebrating victories, offering support during the difficult days, and reminding them they never have to face cancer alone.

Being hopeful and optimistic doesn't mean ignoring the challenges. It means choosing compassion, finding reasons to celebrate, and helping our patients look toward tomorrow with confidence and hope.

Follow along as we continue to spotlight the values that guide everything we do.

Our team had a great time getting a little muddy and enjoying some good old-fashioned team bonding at this year’s Hospice Brazos Valley Hogsplash.

We’re especially grateful to Hospice Brazos Valley for bringing our community together for an event that supports such an important mission. Hospice Brazos Valley guides patients through the end-of-life journey with comfort, care, and grief support.

At Brazos Valley Cancer Center, we believe caring for our community extends beyond the walls of our clinic. We’re grateful for opportunities like this to connect with one another, support local organizations, and be part of the community we’re privileged to serve. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who came out and made today so much fun—and to Hospice Brazos Valley for all the years of Hogsplash memories!
